as everyone knows i recently (like almost 2 months ago) HAD A TRADE WITH ROBIN GILES /LINDA POWER/GIDGET/nancy magee

WELL I RECIEVED PAYMENT TODAY IN THE FORM OF A CHECK
IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE CA*#
WHAT DO I DO? I HAVE BEEN WARNED TO BEWARE OF HER CHECKS
IS THIS JUST ANOTHER PLOY TO NOT PAY
DONT WANT TO TAKE THE CHANCE OF HAVING TO PAY A $29.00 SERVICE CHARGE AT MY BANK
THIS IS SO UNFAIR

I would return the check knowing her history and ask to send money order if she won't send cash. She didn't say she was going to send a check, so yes another ploy to not pay you. It really stinks and hope you do get what's due to you. Sharon:)

and ask them to clear the check before you deposit it - they can go into her bank and get assurances that there is money in the account to cover the check

if there's enough in her bank account to cover the amount of the check, &/or if the account is even a legit one. If your bank isn't able to do that, you may want to contact her bank directly yourself, give them the account # off the check, the $$$ amount of the check & they should be able to tell you if there's enough funds to cover it or not. If there's not enough funds to cover it, I'd be turning it over to the proper authorities (D.A.) for non-sufficient funds & filing mail fraud charges. Whatever you do, make a copy of that check 1st & foremost! If you find it's a worthless check, keep that check til she either sends the cash or money order to replace it.
Most banks nowadays are able to check on another person's check via the bank's name on the check & the account # to find out if there's enough $$$ for the check amount. They started doing this a couple yrs. ago or so because of all the problems w/non-sufficient funds & closed accounts, & innocent people &/or the banks getting stuck w/the worthless checks.

depending in the state in which you live.i would have no problem taking this woman to court for bad checks. and i am waiting also for $$4 from her

This is just horrible!

Wish the check/concealed cash people would stop making excuses and get paypal.

I would not normally accept a check for anything unless I really knew the person or I held my end until the check cleared. So if your trade was supposed to be cash then cash is what she should have sent. Return the check and wait for the cash. If she doesn't make good on the trade with cash then you know what would have happened if you cashed the check...it would bounce sky high. Save yourself the grief.

CAN check to see if there is enough money in that woman's account to cover the check. Here is what happened to me recently---- my mom had a tenant whose rent check kept bouncing . Then he brought her a new check a nd said he had enough money in t he bank now to cover it. I took it to my bank (I was the trustee for that rental) and told them what had happened. The teller checked it right there and then and said no, there are insufficient funds... I told her " but he told my mom there was enough money in his account...." She said "There WAS at the time he wrote the check and if you had brought it in yesterday it would have cleared but in the meantime other checks he has written have cleared and now there is not enough left for this check to clear.." She was able to check this very quickly so I'm sure it can be done....Also I think car dealers, etc. used to call the bank when you gave them a check to make sure the check would clear...
