Hi there. Some of you know, my Mom is fighting inflammatory breast cancer, and unfortunately, it's not going well. On the bright side, her social security disability came threw finally. My question to anyone who can help, does being "disabled" qualify her for any other kinds of help or programs out there? She was moved today from the hospice hospital, where she has been since the beginning of Dec, to a nursing home to the tune of $7000 a month. Needless to say, any help on any kinds of financial programs would be appreciated. Medicare won't kick in for 2 years, she'll never see that. For now, we still pay private health insurance for her to the price of $500 a month. At this rate, her savings will be gone fast. Any advice or help from anyone who's been through this kind of nightmare before, please help! Thanks for reading. You guys always have good advice.

Shes disabled and a nurse. I'll see if she knows of any programs. Best thing to do is a search in your area for programs that might help. I'll lyk. Heather

specializes in this sort of thing. first off, you need to get your mom OUT of that nursing home!!! Our motto where I worked was "my home, not a nursing home!" There ARE programs set up to specificaly help people w/ disabilities live in their own home and get the care they need, through personal assistants, That state GRANTS pay for. There is a waiting list for services, BUT, CRISIS EXCEPTIONS can be made....

From you I need this:

Your moms state, city, etc...disabilty (any and ALL)...I still "work" very closely with this agency and I will see if they can help me find one in the state she is in. I'm not sure how other agencies work, but the way we did it was like this..you go in, you make an appointment, they see what kind of services are needed, and they assist with all paperwork to get medicaid, social security, social security disabilty, grants, waivers, anything out there...

if your interested, plese email me that info and i will see what i can find for you.

Thanks!
