When we first got our dishwasher it was great...about two years have passed since we got it and it still works great and all except now at the end of the cycle it leaves food particles all over the top of the dishes. It gets the inside of the dishes clean where the food was, but the food particles don't drain away. We've cleaned out the bottom where the drain is at but it hasn't helped enough. Is there anything that cleans out dishwashers or any way to prevent this from happening? Often I have to rewash by hand which defeats the purpose of having a diswasher...lol! ANY advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

hugs,
Jen

I thought maybe Jet Dry or something like that would help the food rinse off the dishes easier. That may be the problem. Or maybe the drain is clogged/getting clogged and not getting rid of the food particles like it should. Have you tried cleaning the drain? There is "dishwasher cleaner" out, but I'm thinking it's just for "cleaning" the inside of the dishwasher, and the regular wash cycle cleans the inside of mine just fine. 2|2|Yeah we use jet dry and.....|sweetheart|harleybabe111177@yahoo.com|18:57:35|01/19/2004|

tried cleaning the drain. Dh took the drain cover off and cleaned it out. We thought about trying a run without dishes in it....anyone done that before? I heard about dishwasher cleaning stuff but haven't found any at all..not even just for cleaning the inside?!

it cleans the inside of dishwasher out. you put it instead of detergent and run without dishes. then another run to flush completely. it is mainly for getting rid of stains on the dishwasher like rust stains. should be right next to the rinse aid in the grocery store. If you can't find it, use lime a way (check instrucitons on bottle).

The food particles I get too. It is important to scrape the food that cannot drain (like rice, noodles, chuncks of veg/meat) off the plates before loading. Sauce is ok and is actually better that they are somewhat dirty when loading. Then the DW can know they are dirty (it has a sensor that can tell if rinse water is really dirty or not) and will do a more thourough job. Also the cascade 2n1 are awesome. I can also tell a huge difference when the rinse aid runs low, start getting spots again. I hate the powder detergents. We have really hard water though. HTH.

That was a huge help. I'll definitely check your suggestions out. We ALWAYS scrape the food that wont drain. I agree with you on the powder detergent....it just plain sucks! I will NEVER use powder again..it left white residue allover many of my dishes that wouldn't even come out so we had to throw those dishes away.

THANK YOU again,
Jen
