What states are you all in? I live in FL, down in The Florida Keys. Our schools are open. Our govenor has stated that masks are not necessary but our country still requires them. Everything is open, restaurants, bars, motels because we are a tourist industry. In fact, the only think I can think of that is still closed is the library and county offices. There has been no uptick since our kids went back to school 8/31. We went to Key West last week to hang for a few days - probably less than 10% of the people wore masks out in the streets. There was no social distancing (this was cancelled about 2 months ago) and our mask rule is that you need to put on a mask when under a roof. In a restaurant, Most people just pull them out of their pocket, wear a mask from a door to a seat, then take it off.
I grew up in NY and raised my family in NJ and my friends complain constantly that their govenors are keeping schools closed. In NJ, the NJEA (teachers union) is the largest voting bloc so I am sure nothing will change either way until after the election. My family in OH and PA are in school every other day.
