I live down in The Florida Keys and nobody went nuts down here in FL over the virus - it is here, it is a virus, deal with it. We did not have a govenor screaming on the news nor people counting dead people every day. During the horrible weeks our islands were literally closed off. Law Enforcement put a roadblock on the 2 roads that enter the Keys and only residents, workers and deliveries were allowed (and you wouldn't believe all the crap that went down for other people trying to get down here). After the roadblock was removed, every place you'd want to go was closed (state parks, etc) and all boat ramps. But then it was over and things opened up little by little. We are almost back to normal. All restaurants and bars are back 100%, all motels and rentals are back (I live in a major tourist area), our elementary schools opened last week and our HS will open next week. It is a parent's choice to send a child to school. It has only been one week, so fingers crossed.
Oh yeah masks - all contract tracing in our 126 mile island chain show nothing - people religiously wearing masks get sick, people who don't wear masks get sick - people who never left their house got sick - people who live alone got sick - one person in a household of 7 got sick and nobody else!! There is a mask requirement for any building with a roof but most people ignore it. We know a piece of cotton or paper over our mouth is useless. I will never argue with an employee or another person about a mask....as I go into Publix, I wear my mask and smile and pop it under my chin as soon as I can. Even half the people in my doctor's office don't wear masks anymore. It is my choice and it is an error that people healthy enough to be out shopping can get other people sick....but I respect your right to choose to wear a mask. Please don't send me CDC links or articles about mask wearing
I am a retired ER nurse and I had to deal with Dr. Fauci way back in the 80s and 90s when HIV/Aids first appeared and he was just as much an idiot then as he is now. I ignore him. I know only a properly fitted N95 mask actually works and we, the general population, are unable to get them properly fitted daily. Sometimes in the ER, we had them fitted 3 times a day!!!
If you yelled at me in a store, I would smile and put my mask up.....and remove it as soon as you are out of view

I prefer not to because I know it isn't healthy for me breathing in my own carbon dioxide. I've been told by several medical professionals this is dangerous over time and can damage your healthy lungs. I know several have gotten sick from wearing masks more than once and breathing in those germs so close to your face. I never wear a mask, I take the county bus and no one one the bus wear a mask went to thrift store and i person was wearing a mask, went over to dollar general store and the only person wearing a mask was a person at the checkout. I then got on the bus and driver no passengers were wearing mask. One person got a bus wearing a mask.
I am not going to tell someone to put one on when I do not wear one. I went to restaurant with a friend and we went in and went through line to get food no one in line or sitting down was wearing a mask.
I think that people that are selling masks are becoming very rich. I am 76 years old and I go were ever I want to with out worry. As long as the weather is nice and sunny I intend to go out and walk, take the bus and go shopping. I think the people that stay in all the time and no fresh air are the ones that have to worry.

I was born in the mid-50's and the world has changed so much since then. I feel like I'm on another planet. We are ruled by criminal, murdering parasitic elites who have no regards for the common people. For the first few months of lock-down, I refused to wear a mask. This is submission to authorities. I live in the country in central NH. Wearing masks is not mandatory, but is required in more populated towns/cities in most stores. I wear a mask that says PLACEBO. Got many good comments about it. I'm just spreading the message and they can think about it.

I agree that this world is messed up, and I don't put anything past our government, but refusing to wear a mask confuses me. We passed a law that you can't smoke in certain areas for good reason, but I don't see anyone up in arms about the government trying to control us because of that. You can't run around naked or even topless for women, but no one blames that on the government trying to control us.
Makes no difference to me if you wear a mask or not. I personally think better safe than sorry, but whatever...I'll just stay away from those not wearing a mask.

Many public places used to have signs on their doors or in their windows stating:
No shirt, no shoes = NO SERVICE.
Now it's just a given & people don't think twice about making sure they're wearing shoes & a shirt before entering a public establishment (grocery stores, clothing stores, restaurants, sporting goods stores, gas stations, bars, etc.).
I don't recall anybody putting up a fuss about "government control" then. Or seatbelt laws, mandatory auto insurance, drunk driving laws, building permits, hunting/fishing licenses, driver's licenses, vehicle registration, having to show a picture I.D. as proof of your age or who you say you are when writing a check or voting....
Wearing a mask is a minor inconvenience that can lower the risk of spreading a virus we know little about yet other than it affects people differently, from no or minor symptoms to more severe symptoms such as breathing or heart complications that can last long after a person is no longer contagious, or death.
Have we as human beings really gotten SO detached & selfish that we don't care if we put another person's health or life at risk? To possibly expose others to a virus that can make them seriously ill or maybe even kill them?
I'll be the 1st to admit I HATE wearing a mask, & never in my wildest dreams did I ever think something like this corona virus would happen here in the U.S. or in my lifetime. But here it is, & I definitely do not want it nor do I want to possibly spread it to someone else. But what bothers me the most about all this is the people who are in nursing homes & assisted living facilities who aren't able to have any in-person visitors. They can't hug or kiss their loved ones, can't partake in games or activities w/other residents, & can't even eat together. The people who MOST need that human contact & interaction. This makes my heart hurt the most.
And then there are the drs., nurses, dentists, store clerks, bank tellers, etc. who have to wear a mask for 8-10 hrs. a day yet some people are griping about rights & freedoms or how inconvenient it is to wear a mask for a lousy hour or 2 while out & about? What a selfish & petty world we live in! (smh)
Oh btw, there are 2 nurses & a dr. in my family so the pseudo "scientific experts" can save it for the mirror.
Create a life that feels good on the inside, not one that just looks good on the outside.

Both died in the past three years, and I can't imagine what it would have been like for them going to the hospital multiple times and eventually ending up in the Alzheimers (locked down) unit with no outside contact from their family.

The shots to stop a person from getting the flu does not work because the shot does not cover all virus or flus. Every year some people died from the virus or flu and yet we just except it. Fauci said months ago that masks were useless
so did about 400 different groups of doctors until the Democrats put them down
again, so glad I live in FL and we are now maskless and our kids are back in school. we did everything to prevent it wore our masks, santized etc and we all still got it we are in quarantine now! my 15yr son is the worst it has moved to his chest they have started him on antibiotics, my son was the first sick and we are thinking it came from school there were several cases there but we cant be sure ...it sucks...we are are so tired...and its definitely true about not being able to smell and taste...its is the strangest thing! please pray for us we have a ways to go and this is definitely scary...all 6 of us got it...which makes sense since we are in the same family...their is a lot of stigmata here where we live...ppl looking to blame others for getting etc its crazy...

be very happy that the virus has mutated and is no where as bad as it was back in March.
You all work masks religiously and still got the flu? Saw a show on PBS the other day that they are finding out that more and more mask wearers are getting sick and that the contact tracings have proven nothing - scary
It amazes me how symptoms differ. My GF said she felt hungover for 3 days, my 87yo GF had a sore throat and swollen glands, my GF in MA had nothing except a positive test (she is an RN and had mandatory testing at work), another set of friends said they had the most horrible bronchitis for a week....

my son had to take off work because we are in quarantine can he get unemployment for the two weeks he lost of work? he is supposed to go back if he tests neg on the 17 so far he has stayed neg but hasnt retested since all this began...he has been in quarantine too but staying away from us to avoid infection...the health dept called today about my husband and daughters test and said they have to quarantine till the 24th...please pray for us this has been very hard on all of us emotionally and physically ...im still so drained mine is up the 19th it doesnt feel right even going out now...:( school is closed here...and the kids had just went back! it seems it started just long enough to start a rise in cases....my kids miss school so much and do much better in real school...i pray this ends soon...I am so thankful for our many blessings and I am heartbroken everyday over those that are still fighting and those that have lost their fight with this virus..

Glad you are all feeling ok. The people I know who had the virus, had a mishmash of different symptoms.
Would you mind sharing with us who had what symptoms and how they were treated (I am a retired ER RN)? Have you ever had the "regular" flu? How did it compare? My old coworkers tell me that the virus has mutated remarkably and now it is more like the "regular" flu than it was back in the Spring...and they find that families like yours, who wear their masks and are scrupulous about hand washing, still get sick. Back in the Spring, they were treating the virus all wrong and now that they have figured out what medications and treatments to use, things are much better

we are all ok and recovered today is our last day of quarantine..we are getting retested before we go out i already did and was neg the health dept says we dont have too but to us its the right thing to do..we dont want to unknowingly give the virus to others! and no on seems to know if its still contagious or not ...some say no if you had it but still test postive but have no symptoms you are ok...others say as long as the virus is present you are contagious..we would just rather not take chances...thank you all for the love and prayers..

I currently live in SE FL. I spent 35+ years as an ER nurse in an urban ER in NJ, just outside of NYC. I still keep in touch with friends and coworkers in the NYC/NJ area
The virus numbers are increasing but it is now degenerated into less troublesome than a mild flu - our Medical System in NJ admits 2-3 Covid patients per day, nobody into ICU. Around March & April, it was over 100 people a day with ICU patients hanging in the ER for days since the ICU was full.
Back in the Spring, people were put onto ventilators way too fast and it just killed them!! Now, there are better medical treatments and the death rate is negligible.
All Covid tracing in NJ & FL says masks do not work. You have have to stay in your basement bunker to avoid this flu. Social Distancing works if you never come in contact with another person for a 6 foot circle with no food delivery, no family visits. Obviously, impossible to do.
Went to a swap meet today - a few people who choose to wear masks, most people do not - people buying and drinking coffee from the guy behind the bar, buying snacks to go with the coffee - trying on clothes at the clothes booth - we have chosen to move on with our lives - not to scream fear mongering onto others
