Went to my local fruit and veggy store today. What greeted me- The iceberg head of lettuce was $3.49. Could not believe the price. This store is always cheaper than the supermarkets. Would like to hear from many of you and please post where you come from. I am living in Stony Brook (Long Island) N.Y. 1|1|last I looked it was .99|LindaOH|martinl3@oadrunner.com|15:10:00|12/01/2018|

Stop and Shop has a price of .99 a head of iceberg lettuce this week. I believe the store that was so high last week was way out of line. Tomorrow I hope to go to that store so I will check it out. 15|3|$3.49 again this week in one store and .99 in another|2597grandma|hbs4470@optonline.net|04:31:34|12/10/2018|

Something is definitely wrong with the $3.49 store. A neighboring store has heads of iceberg for .99. You are right it can rot in store. I will not pay that price knowing it is cheaper in another store nearby. 12|2|I did finally find plastic bins of spring mix/Spinach yesterday at WM. Since the lettuce is back to a reasonable price, now maybe they can work on getting
the price of Extra Virgin Olive Oil back to somewhat normal too. OOO ~~ ~~~ OOO 19|1|Central KY Kroger is now at $1.49 ...|Jorainna|jorainna@aol.com|13:53:31|12/13/2018|

Said....no thank you.

Why the high prices. Is it more demand because of problems with Romaine so they raise the price of iceberg lettuce?

Romaine contamination problem, they instituted new regulations about labelling----lettuce has to say where it came from...That way, when you hear about a problem area on the news, you can avoid lettuce from that area. The guy at store was very knowledgeable and showed me that the bag of mixed in my hand was from Yuma. They had already eliminated all lettuce from the problem areas.... There was also a sheet of info in front of the lettuce explaining all this and listing safe origin areas.... I found it very reassuring and appreciated the info and their efforts.
