I loved my old Maytag. Maybe Consumer Reports would help with deciding. I didn't make a good choice with a GE. The darn thing went out in 2 years and I didn't have a service agreement on it. In the "olden" days appliances could easily be fixed but now with their fancy circuits and mother boards, one has to have a technician do the repair and most times it is at great expense.

We live in a "throw away" society. :(

Not the cheapest but the best simple washer on the market. They are the ones who make washers for laundromats. They only sell three basic washers and I believe 2 or 3 dryers. They have the old agitator in the middle. 4|1|bump|sjrentel|sjrentel@iland.net|15:20:08|03/26/2018|

I think one just has to shop prices and sales. That is what I did. Not sure that anyone could say with certainty which store has the cheapest price all the time. 6|1|I have a Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer and...|Skaytes|skaytez@gmail.com|21:07:38|03/26/2018|

so far after at least 7 yrs or so I have't had a lick of problem with either of them. Front loader..works great and LOVE that I can get my tons of laundry done up quickly with just a few loads versus me doing load after load after load with my old top loader that took hours to complete. I did my homework before I purchased them. Got the biggest capacity washer and dryer and all the reviews I seen at the time including Consumer Reports rated them top rated then. Got them from Sears. They also have the 'steam' feature where you hook the hose up from washer to dryer and can steam your clothes ..however they need to be side by side to do that and that is not possible with my home..they are across from each other in my utility room. Neat feature of the washer though on top of that is you can do a small load ..say a couple pairs of pants and a shirt and pair of socks...and be able to actually turn it to a feature on the washer that will literally dry the clothes in the washer. This takes a long while but still a cool feature :)
