After finally getting in to see a kidney specialist, who said no problem doing any of my chemo options, my dr. finally scheduled me to do a chemo drug that is least hard on kidneys, although had the worst side effects/pain for me. I was supposed to do it yesterday. Left my house at noon, got there, they did my blood work, waiting, told my creatin is higher so calling dr. Waiting, dr. calls back and says add hydration. They hook me up, give me my pre-meds and set me up wit 2 hours of hydration fluids. Waiting, told they need a PA or RN to come review the drug and give me a consent form to sign. Finally one shows up. NOw waiting for the drug. Pharmacist shows up, very apologetic and mad, she went to make my treatment, and didn't have the full dosage. There was a delivery that morning which was supposed to include this drug, but was somehow left out of the delivery and nobody had checked until she went to get it. So call the dr to see if we could do a reduced dosage, try a different drug or have to reschedule. Dr. is in the operating room. So waiting, she calls back and is mad as heck at the pharmacy, but said I would have to be rescheduled and to finish the hydration. So had to sit there til the whole thing drained, then left. Got home at 5:15, all for nothing. They told me to come in at 8 a.m. today. If I get there and find the drug isn't there until 10 a.m. I will explode!

It does seem like God had a plan and wanted us there today. When we arrived, the waiting room was swamped with people. When they called me for my wristband and check in, they were hand writing everything. I asked if the computers were down, the lady said it was just the printer (and apparently was the only printer in the place). She said yesterday she had cleaned around it and now today it wouldn't work. I said I bet my husband can take care of it for you. She asked if he was here and if I could get him over. He spent about 5 minutes checking cables, restarted it and checked a few more, and it immediately started spitting out all the print requests that had been sent and worked fine. They were thrilled, the tech guy was not coming out until sometime after 2 p.m. and it was only 8 a.m. All morning we had people come up to us and thank him for fixing it, said you saved us, we are so grateful. Then he was outside having a smoke and an old man came up to him and asked if he had a car. He needed a jump. The man had some really short jumper cables and no idea how to use them, so Kurt grabbed ours and jumped the car for him.
Looks like we were meant to be there today to help out.
OH and my treatment went well, had everything quickly and they said I was their number one priority to get done since the mix up yesterday.
