Google the words divorce laws by state and you will get a bunch of links to read and check out. Here in Indiana it's a 50/50 state unfortunately. There is no one at fault (even though say your spouse is cheating on you big time that does NOT enter at all into the divorce proceedings). Everything is split 50/50 ..so if no kids ..if you got the house and it's worth is $ 125,00 if you keep it you would have to come up with half that worth to give to your ex via loan or whatever. Same goes for everything else..has to be divided up 1/2 and 1/2 so everything is about equal value for each spouse that they get total and there is no alimony here either in this state.
