One of my closest friends is in really bad shape. He has cancer of the blood and started treatment in October. Since then, he has been in the hospital more than home. He is having major trouble, his body is destroying the blood cells, they stopped giving him transfusions because his body was destroying it faster than they could give it. He has been in ICU for a week now, and we are very worried about him. He is only 52. His wife is having a hard time, the hospital is over an hour away, and she is working full time, taking as much time off as she can to go and be with him, and is getting very worn down from the stress of working, worrying, driving, etc. She has asked for prayers for him.

My MIL is in a nursing home still and seems to be getting weaker every time we see her. She just moved up here from Florida in September and has spent most of that time in either the hospital or a nursing home. She can no longer even get out of bed without a machine that "hoists" her up, because she doesn't have enough strength to even hold on when people try to assist her, she just flops. She has lost use of one arm, has severe wounds all over her feet and legs, is diabetic, and having heart issues. She is in a lot of pain and very depressed over all this.

another dear friend has suffered from severe depression and mental illness for years. In order to try to get better and not hurt her family, she moved into an apartment. While her husband tries to support her, he really doesn't get it and is not really helping. Now her teen age son refuses to talk to her, says she just is a drama queen and needs to snap out of it and stop seeing doctors for attention. She has been withdrawing even more and I am very worried about her. She checked into the hospital over the holidays because she was afraid she was going to hurt herself. She is home now, but doesn't seem any better.

My 42 year old cousin just finished her rounds of chemo for breast cancer and is doing well. She is still a wreck, and would appreciate prayers that it doesn't come back.

I go for my checkup next month to see if I am in remission or have to start chemo again, so a prayer now and then over the next month would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sure I could list a lot more, but these have been my major concerns right now. Hope everybody is doing good. 2015 is not starting off as a good year.

I think at one point or another, we've all been there. All you can do is put one foot in front of the other and take baby steps and breathe and get through the day.
Tomorrow is a new day.

It's all in how you make it.

His wife called this afternoon and asked me to wait at their house for an experimental drug that was being shipped today, but his kidneys and liver had already shut down. She then called a few hours later that he had passed away. His wife, two daughters and mother were at the hospital with him.

He is my age again (51). His 11 year old son found him on the kitchen floor this morning. He had hit his head really bad, they don't know if he had a heart attack and fell, or just tripped and banged his head that hard, what happened. He also has twin daughters in their 20s, one is single and living with them and expecting her first baby in 6 weeks. His dad is suffering from Parkinsons and has been deteriorating quickly, we have all been worried about him. His mother is still taking care of him on her own at home, and her son had been a big help.

So sad. When my mom called, I expected it to be the dad, not the son!
