Here is a link for you to read through and see if you have any of those places in your area:

http://health.costhelper.com/shingles-vaccine.html

I saw one person mention that they were able to receive the vaccine through their local health department. Not sure if that option is available to you or not. Also, please keep in mind that that the vaccine does not protect you 100% from getting shingles in the future.

I am one of the unlucky ones that did not get the vaccine(too young according to the CDC) and have been dealing with shingles since last year. I would not wish that kind of pain on anyone. 2|2|too young too|angNC|memawang@nc.rr.com|19:22:56|11/12/2014|

A friend just got one there.I am on Medicare but have no other RX coverage, with what I have seen on the net it would cost me more for the Part D then I spend on RX's.I called medicare and checked and they won't pay for it,we have a health care supplement but it only pays what medicare approves, I may have to bite the bullet and put out the money I have never saw a coupon I even checked the site that makes it and not anything I can use. 4|2|The vaccine is supposed to be covered by Medicare Part D|littlewolf|CCsuterlab@aol.com|20:49:33|11/12/2014|

I know that you said that you do not have it BUT would the cost of the plan vs. the cost of the vaccine be worth your adding the plan? If your Doctor is recommending you receive the vaccine, can he/she help you find a lower cost place? I looked at Walgreens site and it is $225 out of pocket there with no insurance. 5|1|Not unless you have part D (inside)|LindaOH|martinl3@oadrunner.com|09:23:02|11/13/2014|

its considered a RX I guess, from what I read part D has a $140 deductable plus you pay $4 to $8 for non name brand and once you sign up you have to keep for a year unless special reason and the cheapest was close to $20 a year with some costing over $100 6|1|I do have part D and paid nothing for my shingles vaccination.|Arizona|VJAST48@gmail.com|09:36:25|11/13/2014|

No deductible, either.

Call you supplement insurance company. Perhaps it might be beneficial for you to add part d.

The cost for the vaccination was $225 and both my husband and I got it. Thankful that I did.

The flu shot was also no cost. 10|2|Also no cost for pneumonia & flu shot|Arizona|VJAST48@gmail.com|10:08:56|11/14/2014|

pain for about 6 years now. I told him we should get him the shot as our joint Christmas present! She was prescribed a benzodyazapine (sp) and is still on it, I fear she is on that for good as the withdrawal from that would be too brutal and not worth it. I am definitely going to get it when I turn 60 and will start saving soon for it.

I was allergic to the Flu shot and is really scared to get other shots unless there is a outbreak on the disease. I was more sick getting the flu shot then it preventing it.

If you had chickenpox the virus stays in your body 'hiding' till something ..like stress etc...awakens it. then it presents itself as shingles which are very painful. I had them a few years ago on my left side. It can manifest anywhere on your body..starts as a rash but needs to be treated ASAP as it then turns into filled blisters which can transfer thru the fluid from blisters to others ..like regular chickenpox.
I have had MANY times where my stress was thru the roof and it never presented itself. When it did luckily I knew what it was due to the diligence of (of all people!) my chiropractor. He had warned me a few days before on my visit to him that I was 'ripe' for getting it due to my age and circumstances for stress etc. I got in to Dr immediately before it progressed to blister stage. The pain from shingles is awful! It took a few months for the pain to totally leave my body. It was so bad I couldn't even sleep. I would rather give birth any day than go thru that again! If you can afford it ..or your insurance will pay for it..I highly recommend getting the shot. Well worth it to never go thru that for sure.. 16|4|Shingles|jeanniet|jeanniet@abc580.net|15:57:19|11/16/2014|

Had to be hospitalized for facial paralysis on 1 side, nausea, vomiting and vertigo. She is home now but
not fully recovered. Doctor said she had a 50-50 chance of recovering completely. She has Ramsey Hunt Syndrome from the shingles
in her ear. Doctor said she was young to have shingles.
