cause excess uric acid in the blood and can lead to crystals collecting near yr joints -- especially in the feet... Animal meats, seafood and alcohol are main contributors but quite a few vegetables are also on the "high in purines" list... My roommate had gout after eating liverwurst, ice cream and some other offender...but was able to make it clear up through dietary changes and by being careful to avoid purine high foods. Extreme cases may require a test to determine uric acid levels in yr body and an RX to control the levels. A friend said she used to drink Pepsi or some other soda every day and had to go to work wearing a big slipper on her foot every day for a month or more... She says she stayed away from sodas from then on and never had another attack.

the Doctor told you it's gout and you are just thinking it's gout. My mother thought she had gout and she called the DR and he gave her medication to control it. Found out it was not gout but kidney failure and the medication that helps the gout made the kidney worse 4|4|Thanks Yes dr. said it was.
