Girls, I need your help with the traffic ticket my hubby got.
It is 39:4-97 careless driving and carries 2 points. The fine is not that bad – only $85, but the points – that is what worries me.
So, should he go to court and see if he can get the ticket reduced to 39:4-97.2 (that what usually happen in NJ – that is unsafe driving and carries no points, but the fine with all the court fees is around $500) or pay the fine of $85 and take a defensive driving course that removes those 2 points?
If he is lucky he might get the ticket reduced to 39:4-67 (obstruction of traffic) and that would be awesome, but I do not see the NJ court get him off with just that little.

Any experiences?
Thanks

P.S. He got the same ticket about 10 years ago and paid $400 last time.

But if he is a careful driver, 2 points is nothing. Usually the erase 1-2 points a year. So if he does not get a ticket in 2 years, his record will be clean. In VA , you can accumulate these negative points up to 4. So a person with a clean record will have a negative 4 score. 2|1|I would go to driver's school.|Arizona|vjast48@gmail.com|17:58:11|04/04/2014|

I would not want the "points" on my record. I would think that could affect your insurance.

I think if you go to driver's school, everything is erased.
