I always check my caller ID before I answer my phone but this morning I answered without
checking. I was expecting a call from the hospital about my daughters surgery. A man who spoke very
broken english called me Mrs Edwards. He said I see you are having computer trouble. If you will go to your computer
I will help you fix it. I hung up immediately. I wanted to close the blinds & look under all the beds & behind
the doors. I had the terrible feeling that he must know everything about me. Mot a good feeling.I looked on the caller ID
& there was just a bunch or 0 on it. Has anyone else received a call like this?

There have been articles in our newspapers about this type of scam. Nobody's watching your house or anything; they're just taking a lucky guess, & hoping to get your passwords, etc. It's similar to the quack telemarketing calls where they got your phone number from somewhere - maybe the phone book, a place of business/company that sells lists of people's phone numbers like a sweepstakes promo, etc.
You did the right thing by hanging up on the scammer. :)

from someone who claims to the from the "department of computer." Really strange title and you know this is a scam. Or course my husband knows this is some nut and he just messes with him on the phone. that these calls were going out. And DO NOT give them any information because they get into your
computer and copy all the things you have in it. They tell you it will take an hour to straighten it
out and after that they have all your information. The newscaster said just hang up. One guy said he told
that he didn't have a computer, but they kept on calling him anyways.
They said Microsoft does not call anyone.
This was on the News.

Including one my co-worker's daughter got the other night about having failed to respond to a summons and a constable was on his way to the house to arrest her BUT she could go ahead and pay the fine by going to Walmart and buying somekind of card from the Money Center ... she was believing it. She thought is was her grandson, said he was in Mexico, in jail and needed money. Used the pet name we have for her, ect. The real grandson had just moved to Texas so it sounded ligit to her. They get this info off facebook. We figure the grandson had posted he was moving to Texas, someone looked through his friends list and found gram, and found her unlisted phone number. The first thing they say is I need help and don't tell my parents. She was worried about this for months.

The number was 305-474-0866. When I did a reverse phone look-up, it's one of the numbers that's been recorded & reported for the computer scam calls. When they called, I picked up the receiver but didn't say anything. They didn't say anything either & after about a minute, they hung up. Had my tv up & the police scanner on w/the volume up so if they heard anything besides me breathing, it would've been the yammering of the tv & scanner. For all they know tho, that background noise could've been a cop shop w/the scanner conversations. Bet if they did hear it, they won't call again. I can whistle real loud w/my fingers in my mouth so if they do call again, I'm going to have me some fun & blow the wax out of their ear! LOLOL
