I just got home from CVS. I asked the manager about this offer before I bought anything. He had an employee call their store Help line, who transferred her to another person, who said the offer was still valid. I bought one and it printed the $50 ECB with no problems. 4|1|How is this a money maker if you are spending $154.99 and only getting $50 in ecb? If you can purchase other gift cards...say at another store with this? Since it's a Master Card.

I just used a rebate prepaid the other day and bought a Gift Card for Kroger so wondering if you could do the same with this...just spend it on other gift cards...thus no fees if you convert it to some other gift card.

Anyone let me know if you have done this or do this.

I can always find something to blow the $50 bucks on at CVS. I can always stock up on something (Coffee & TP are always stock up staples for me or Peanut Butter for my Dad, LOL!)

THANKS!

I want to purchase some other gift cards that offer ECB's. If it says spend 100.00 on Old Navy gift card and get 25.00 in ECB's, Can I have (2) $50.00 cards rung up on seperate receipts and qualify for the ECB's? I don't know if gift cards work like regular purchase and it doesn't have to be in one transaction.
I "assume" it would but you know what that means, anybody know for sure??

OK, worked like a charm and then I used that prepay to buy $150 in assorted other gift cards.

The debit card does need to be registered... and they do ask your social security number (assumably in case you transfer money and make interest... I'm not sure). So it's basically cash that you can use to buy ANYTHING you want.

Here's the catch...Paypal will charge $4.95/month for unuse or having a balance... Honestly, I did NOT read all the paperwork because I have no intentions of holding it for 30 days. But read that part first.

My store did not think it was a deal because its not in the flyer (even though they have the signs up.. duh). It's an unadvertised special that works perfectly.

Did it a second time on another card... at another store who also didn't know anything about it! 15|2|wondering if you can use the card to buy another paypal mastercard since it doesn't say offer limit reached????|ptmama525|ptmama525@aol.com|14:14:09|11/25/2013|

Bought the Paypal MC and then registered it

Took it to Kroger and bought 2 Shell gas GC's and a McDonald's GC, no problems plus earned 4xs fuel points at Kroger!

So this is a way to increase your max savings!

I also took my $50 ECB's and did all the "free" deals in the ad. Added a $5 off coupon from a local coupon book on top of that....spent $3.46 OOP on tax (used the MC to pay that)
Got back $53.90 more in ECB's. Now I have a bunch of smaller ECB's to spend by Christmas. I can now get things like milk, etc. every week! But I still may stock up on things like TP...everyone needs that!

Thanks,

That you can go to the grocery store and make a small purchase and then
Get cash back provided you have registered the card with a pin. (Update: I did this and got charged $4.95 for cash back, so unless you want to be hit with $4.95 in fees I would suggest not doing it.)

Also read that when the card reaches zero balance you need to call or
Go to the web site and cancel it so they don't apply fees

No guarantees on any of this, just what I have read on these 2 "tips".

Had to go to 3 stores and found the card, it was pretty buried in with all the other gift cards. I truly had to look for it and almost completely missed it. No advertisement or anything. Went to the cashier told her about the online ad and ecb, she said that she heard someone talk about it. This was as she was ringing me up and then I paid her and then---no ecb! I realized right then she never asked me for my CVS card. She called another person to help her issue me the ecb's, finally got (2) $25 ones that they had to manually force the computer to give. The line behind me was so long, but hey 50 bucks is 50 bucks!

Question: If I spend my $150.00 on this card and it is a zero balance. Would I need to cancel it? How would they deduct the fees if I didn't? Could someone who is more familiar with computers and paypal explain how to cancel the card.

LOL when I went to register the card, I accidently ordered another card it. It was where it said no purchase fee. When this one comes should I cancel it? 31|1|Looks like they may have removed this deal?|bluh2oeyes|bluh2oeyes@yahoo.com|08:02:12|11/26/2013|

Posted on Nov-26-13 at 08:02 AM (Eastern) by 99.46.156.191

Was looking at CVS.com to see what other stores in my area might have this card and looks like they may have removed this deal.

It now says "not available at the store you selected". And that seems to be every store I select.
Even the one I had saved to my list no longer even shows the image of the card or the details.
Just a blank "no Image" and only the "title" but no more description of the deal or a photo of the card.

I wish everyone still looking the best of luck!

OK, there is no way that they would be told to "throw them away" as that is inventory for which they paid - probably that $4.95 that we pay for activation.

It doesn't matter if they say "one per family" because there is nothing stopping anyone from having multiple cards and going to different stores to use them. Unless you are on a first name basis with your store employees and they know who all your relatives are... no way. Big deal if a whole family came in and they all got a new card and did the deal. That means that they are coming back to your store and spending their $50 ECB for items that CVS only paid $2.50 for anyways. Look at the markup on this stuff. After each holiday they mark things down 90%. 90%!!! That includes decorations, candy, cake mixes, potato chip bags that have holly leaves on them, shampoo, cream rinse... everything. After Christmas that store becomes a shopping haven. And let's be real... how many of those people are going to only spend that $50? Very few, I'd think. Very hard to get EXACTLY $50.. so there will be something they need to kick in or they leave money on the table. OR, what CVS is probably banking on... they totally forget about it or it gets tossed and therefore, CVS is out nothing!

Buy a pre-paid PayPal reloadable debit card for $154.95 (that includes the fee) and receive $50 back in Extra Bucks.
In a second transaction, purchase $100 worth of GAP, Old Navy, or Banana Republic gift cards, and pay using your new PayPal card.
You'll receive another $25 worth of Extra Bucks from those gift cards, which you can either use as gifts or use during your Black Friday shopping (especially at Old Navy, considering the whole store is going half-price!)
So for your initial investment of $154.95, you'll have the following: $100 worth of gift cards, $50 still left on the PayPal pre-paid debit card, and a whopping $75 worth of Extra Bucks. That's $225 worth of buying power! Plus, remember that Extra Bucks are good for around 30 days, so you have some time to figure out the best way to use them. 60|1|was going to..but not sure i wabted to be tied to 50 i would have to spend now in 1 transaction at cvs...|soccer_mom|jhowarth@wiley.com|15:31:09|11/28/2013|

I usually just do deals and spend a few bucks using ecbs and buying only whats reallt a good deal. I would end up buying stuff i dont want or at more than i'd want to pay just to use up the 50 ecb before it expired. Wasn't sure it was worth it...for me. 61|2|Judy This is what I planned to do....|melpaul|Melpaul199@aol.com|15:39:26|11/28/2013|

maybe some cleaners too. For me it was a good deal because I will spend $150.00 at Christmas anyway so I paid the 4.95 fee then it looks like they charge another 4.95 per transaction (if i am reading right)I will just use the card in one transaction, so I will net about $40 in ecb's, even with the mark up from cvs, I was going to spend this money anyway in the form of cash, now I will just get some free items for my family courtesy of cvs. 63|4|Absolutly same here Kathy|melpaul|Melpaul199@aol.com|16:40:59|11/28/2013|
