I remember waiting for my refunding cents magazine and trading for cig upc's
(My daughter complained she was the only kid with cig logos on everything she owned)
Marlboro coats/ jackets/ tees/ radios/etc
Va slim. Yes/ watches/ coats

I remember kool aid upc's got you free coupons for chicken

We made everything with it, popcorn balls, Rice Krispie treats lol

Glad had a deal for garbage bags (you could do it over and over)
I made lots of trades and bucks

I have a kitchen clock from camel codes which were free to find all over the internet
Nestle Coffeemate creamer...labels got you coupon for free coffeemate
Velveeta ..saved the UPCs to get free Shell gas cards

there were many others as well. Anyone got any ideas on 'why' companies no longer do this type of thing? I know Extreme Couponers show has hurt all us regular people with using coupons and most stores/areas no longer double..or even was better..triple!
Even coupon values themselves are pretty pitiful these days. I remember when coupon trade boards where 'hoppin'" but not so much any more. So sad especially now with the economy when we truly need to use coupons and sales to get food etc. 2|1|great all in one tools and tool boxes from the oil companies|ppe1952|matwell3@rochester.rr.com|08:44:18|11/24/2013|

i gave one to most of the guys i worked with at the time.

delmonte had yumkin stuffed animals
all kinds of free t shirts.
wrangler had free jeans
atari had free jackets

winston, salem, kool, newport, marlboro, virginia slims all had great free merchandise for upc. ( that is now illegal).

i have been doing this over 30 years. i have all sorts of great memories. the thing i miss the most- real people to people trading.you learn so much more from real face to face talk than can be said over the internet.

they were the good ol' days of refunding since '80:

Always found tons of grocery forms, especially P&G offers, just send in UPC & form, like the others before crt's were required.

Loved the Lipton Beef/Chicken $2 coupons you could do over and over.

The free movie ticket offers were great too!

I got the whole Delmonte Yumkins set, lots of t-shirts, M&M jars, Energizer Bunny, nice Marlboro jacket for free (traded for upc's to get this), tons of free beach towels and many more. They were great while it lasted.

Also regularly got Moneytalk, Refunding Makes Sense and few other refunding magazines that I couldn't wait to read on the many new offers! 4|1|I still use the TV I got from Marlboro 20 yrs ago or more|LindaOH|Martinl3@roadrunner.com|09:03:57|11/24/2013|

I got a bunch of stuff free,TVs,cordless phones, movie cameras, leather and jean jackets.Me and 2 other friends did this I think it was suppose to be for miltary only but they honored it if you had a form. You had to send the top seal from the pks, the smell of the cigs would be all over my house.they had to bring a big truck to deliver it all. all the stuff was really good too, the letter jackets were really nice. 10|2|I got the sleeping bags and the hiking boots from Marlboro :-)|KELLYNEISH|KELLYNEISH@AOL.COM|11:33:33|11/24/2013|

I went to the conventions in Denver about 2 times a year. You could trade your stuff with others and it was a blast Usually made about $100 in the 1 day after I trade for labels, upcs and just about anything for the mailing. Then P&G was really big on detergent and foods. Now it seems liquor is the only rebate stuff. That is my "2 cents" Stamps were $.15 cents when I started refunding. 11|1|Good 'ol days refunding & the good "old school" refunders......|maraj|maraj64@hotmail.com|12:11:02|11/24/2013|

Dumpster diving/dump digging for goodies like those Pampers teddy bear proofs, Pillsbury Doughboy pts..... NO crt's needed!
Loved those Doughboy premiums! Got a school bus, a semi, watch, giggling cookie jar but never was able to get the strands of lights or curtains that I wanted. LOL
And I remember the Mr. Coffee automatic drip coffee maker I got 20+ yrs. ago w/just the Folger's logo from the lids. That coffee maker lasted over 10 years! Most coffee makers barely last 2 now, if that.
And the awesome Healthy Choice, Newport & Marlboro premiums w/the upc's, too numerous to list, but I have a bunch - camcorder, lanterns, sleeping bags, jackets, rice cooker, blender, etc., etc.
Hershey's Snow Globes, Nestle's Quick drinking glasses w/the vintage year on them, M&M cookie jars & candy dishes, strands of lights....
The beach towels, t-shirts, bobbleheads, Kellogg's ceramic bowls & spoons.
My family thought I was nuts sending in for all the premiums but those things are priceless to me!

Oh, & the "surprises" we'd sometimes come across at the dump, that weren't always refunding related or pleasant. We'd run like heck & laugh so hard my sister (now deceased) would pee her pants! ROFL! Again, priceless!

what do you have good? i was like walking into a high school reunion and having every one know your name. 100 - 200 traders from all over. trading for everything you could imagine.from homemade items to tables full of premiums. no money just trade.guys who worked in convience stores would bring in the cigarette premiums. i knew some ladies who wuld do some serious dumpster diving and have bags of cigarette upc. i knew people who always had oil upc to trade. i knew a guy who always had lots os liquor upc to trade. the internet is fine but i miss the people to people interaction.

In the 70*s I lived at home with my parents and did refunding. Dad loved to go to mailbox to see what was there. Those quarters-dimes-and coupons were great. I remember I could get a poloroid camera for 30 bugles box tops. We had bugles morning, noon, and night and in between. I worked at a major insurance company and I would take them and everyone would snack. I got the camera. After about a year. Some new type of camera came out. Oh the good old days. 20|1|I have an antique desk called a Larkin and|20yrrefunder|tradernikki@yahoo.com|21:11:22|11/24/2013|

We bought it at a very nice antique furniture shop and while I was waiting for my DH to back his truck up to the loading dock, I asked the salesman if he knew anything about this beautiful piece of furniture and he said that an old lady had it and that she said that she had saved up oatmeal labels to get it many, many years ago. So, guess that refunding for premiums has been going on for a very long time.

We did at least one convention each in: Chicago, Cincinnati, Paducah, Louisville, Lexington, Knoxville and several smaller ones - mostly in IL and OH. The trading was more for forms and qualifiers then, not so much for coupons.

I got the Marboro items, Yumkins, Energizer Bunny, and Correlle Ware too. Before that was the Del Monte transistor radio that looked like the pineapple can. Lipton Tea mugs and beach towels. A large bear from Brawny. Ragu recipe box, Quaker Oatmeal tin, Pepsi beach towels. Then there was the $20 Nabisco for just UPCs! I miss all the nice free coupons, too. 23|1|Conventions in Chicago and suburbs - lots of fun. Remember the Kellogg's|Geri|geristiber@gmail.com|00:53:44|11/25/2013|

cereal to $25, P&G detergent to $25 and the Healthy Choice premiums? We had weekly refund meetings at several Jewel-Osco and
Dominick's stores in the suburbs. The stores would give us refund forms for the group to share.

remember many offers that seem to have disappeared .seems like co's are going to online offers like coke ,stouffers and kelloggs you put in codes etc I'm sure you all know these. ones like Benadryl and Sudafed had 5.00 rebates every year now don't rember the last time they had a deal. Went to a couple conventions in ca but yes 20 years ago or more.getting old .You can get some offers online that does help. A Rapunzel My Little Pony for 2 UPC codes and a check for like $1.25 in the late 80's for my daughter. We sold it on eBay a few years ago for, honest to God, $399. Wished I would have had a glass ball to look into and I would have ordered 100 of them!!!!

I also remember sending in for US savings bonds with The Pampers diapers either UPC code or some other small marking on the box. That's went Pampers came in cardboard boxes so most people put the box out intact on trash day so I was able to send in for a lot of those savings bonds.

I also remember Pizza Hut used to give out nice sized plastic puppets for the kids in the late 80's to early 90's. Oh those were the days.

I was just thinking the other day when a bunch of my Budweiser $4 rebate checks showed up that the checks used to be $10 just a few years ago. I live in a NBPN state!! 29|1|Remember when a $5 check was a big deal|LindaOH|Martinl3@roadrunner.com|11:42:24|12/02/2013|
