Anyone else get plugged ears/pressure in their ears from drinking too much coffee?
I drink Folger's Half Caff & I've found that if I drink more than 2 cups in the morning & 2 cups in the afternoon, I feel pressure/plugged in my ears.
This started about 2 yrs. ago when I also developed an on-going battle w/sinus problems. Maybe related? One thing I noticed too w/the ears, once the pressure started to alleviate, I'd then get a nasty burning feeling inside my head, fever & sore throat in the roof of my mouth. It was like having heartburn in the back of my nose & between my ears, & it's totally horrible to deal with.
In the past couple of days, I've limited my coffee to 2 cups in the morning & 2 in the afternoon & the plugged/pressure feeling isn't nearly as bad. I'm also using a saline sinus wash twice a day followed by Nasacort in which I then have to lie on my back across my bed w/my head hanging down over the side, to get the stuff to work way back in my sinuses.

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced these symptoms & found too much coffee to be the culprit? Is it coffee in general or is it the decaff or regular that does it?
When I mentioned this to my dr. the other day he said he didn't doubt what I was saying but that he'd never heard of it before. When I researched it online, I've found articles of other people experiencing similar or the same w/the coffee/plugged ears problem. It just doesn't say anything if it can lead to sinus problems or if it's due to only decaff or regular coffee, or just coffee in general.
Thanks for any input! :)

I have one ear plugged in the morning but doesn't bother me enough goes away.Am a big coffee drinker I get mad at myself when I realize that was all I drank all day try to dring milk and juice too. I sometimes use Benadryl like substance to take at bed. I read somewhere that it is good for keeping the earwax dowm. 3|2|coffee|sjrentel|sjrentel@iland.net|15:58:20|11/03/2013|

I left wax build up and didn*t go to Dr. Soon enough. Now I have to take shots from a ear specialist. Its no fun to have an ear problem. After reading your post,I too, stopped coffee. We shall see. 4|1|You might be allergic to caffeine.|Quietwaters|Quietwaters39@hotmail.com|07:33:55|11/05/2013|

pepsi and have problems with my ears like you do. I do have a lot of sinus problems though and I do know that if we blow our noses too much, that can plug up the ears. I also have recurrent infections and that can cause ringing in the ears and problems.
