I just noticed this on my yahoo e-mail. At the top there is an ad with a $ sign to the left. I have tried everything to get rid of it and can't figure out
how to get it off the page. My husband had a few days ago and I just got the first one this morning. I know it's a free internet but it's bad enough having
the ads to the right of the e-mails now to put one at the top and the only way we figured out how to get it out of his is to delete the all the e-mails he had and it was gone. I have so many that I have to sort through and I don't want to delete them until I've gone through them and forward them or delete them.
So if anyone had any info on how to get rid of this I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
Joy (flapper)

First they changed my email to the "new look" several months ago and I hate it. Now they stick that "ad" as my first email and I have not figured out how to delete it either. Been having major problems opening my email this morning too.

Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, etc., unless you have a private server which both parties must have same private server so emails cannot be read as they're encrypted. Burns me up they're reading our email, same thing with Facebook, Twitter, etc. 14|7|Jet them read them they're gonna be real busy reading the ones in my email account lol I can't even keep up lol|teener|teenerzacsneenee@yahoo.com|12:19:27|09/06/2013|

and I think it's reason why my lavabit server (my last email/server) went down on 8/6 because it was a private server between lavabit users (encrypted) because Ed Snowden was one of the lavabit users, so owner of lavabit decided to shut down immediately, which I thought was too rash not letting us lavabit users know ahead of time to be able to get another server, especially for business purposes, etc. 21|9|oh my, haven't heard about that|cinda68|lacinda68@gmail.com|02:06:24|09/07/2013|

They should have given some warning to the users. This got me thinking today, internet was a military project at first, possibly always been the goal, what we are seeing today. 22|10|You're most likely right Cinda...|Sharon|sforshee@hughes.net|10:08:22|09/07/2013|

It was first written for the military in the 60's by GE, because they had the money and wanted it. My then husband wrote a lot of the codes for the original programs. I too was also working for GE, but in the non-military branch. It was not a secret project, a lot of talk and excitement within the company on that. It was based on a concept developed by Princeton Univ.

Just remember, anything going thru email can always be retrieved later on. Many people have been bought down by careless emails. It is not private, but goes thru many portals.
25|3|Not worried about e-mails or who reads them. I just don't like the idea of that one ad above my e-mails and you can't delete it.|flapper|joyphalen@yahoo.com|18:19:24|09/09/2013|

I know it's in the agreement that we signed but it's the idea that you can't delete it without getting rid of all your other e-mails. I just don't open them, maybe after awhile if no one is reading it they might stop (haha lol) putting them in our e-mails. I'm not interested in them and treat them as if it were spam. Just don't open them

GE had the contract to write the system because at that time they had the best communication computer. The GE200. They developed the computer because they were the largest nongovernment communications user and needed it. Even AT&T used it. You can't believe how backwards AT&T were back then. I know because I worked on a project to upgrade their equipment.

I remember in high school doing computer programming with the mainframe and terminals with the green screens. We learned BASIC and Cobol and then it was years before I saw a computer again. When we got the PC at home I thought the mouse was so weird and wanted to use the enter key. lol Thank you for the information, if you can remember anything else about the beginnings of the internet, please share!
