Has anyone used them? I am talking about the ones that are about the size of a dorm room style refrigerator.

I am looking to cool a garage for my cats. Long story short I have absolutely stupid neighbors (nice way to put it). I have 3 cats that spend most of thier time in my garage. They are spayed, up to date on shots, etc. At night I close the garage door but during the day the door stays proped open and they can be out. My neighbors on one side and a neighbor down the road were yelling and cursing about them last night while I was in the closed garage and outside. Got into a discuss with them. They said they are mad about the cats. (it is more than that---the city took out our sidewalk and they got upset and I wouldn't go to the town board meeting with them to complain). I don't cuse (much at least and nothing very bad). My cats and I got called the F word 10-15 times as well as every other word under the sun. I was cool and calm and just asked that they be neighborly. So I guess I am going to start keeping them in around the clock. There will be 5 or 6 weeks this summer that will be very hot. Otherwise it will be fine. Any suggestions on cooling the garage? 1|1|I have had a fridgedair portable A/C unit for three years. I cool my kitchen and livingroom with it. We love it. All you need is a window, and an outlet, and you are good to go. It was helpful for us, because my hubby is disabled, and cannot lift over 20lbs, so we would have to wait for someone to come help take the old aircontioner, in and out of the window. This just rolls right, to where we need it. HTH Donna|dlpavitt|dlpavitt@att.net|18:08:14|07/12/2013|

Air conditioners cannot be totally contained in a room. They need a window or some means of access to outside air. For 2 reasons. One to get rid of the water that accumulates from the humidity. And 2 an air exchange (getting rid of the hot air for cooler air. The ones you see placed inside and enclosed room with no outside access does not work. It only cools the air directly in front of the air conditioner while the rest of the room gets hotter.
