Hello! I am a volunteer with an organization that ships boxes to our troops. We are all volunteers, 100% of our proceeds go to our cause. So, I have been "elected" to gather donations from businesses/companies to raffle off and also make raffle baskets with. My questions are #1...do you know of a business/company that is interested in donating to a 501(3)c organization? #2...do you have ideas for raffle baskets and #3...do you know of a person or place that would buy a $30 dinner ticket? If they cannot make the benefit, the ticket will be assigned to either a veteran or a current soldier. If any of you do know of someone or place that would donate, we do send tax deduction receipts for donations received. Thanks so much in advance for any help with this!

I collect donations for a non-profit for mentally and/or physically handicapped individuals. Some good places to
contact are: most college/universities will donate t-shirts, sweatshirts, pennants. Just send a letter to their
Office of Admissions. I mail to those in our area and also to colleges and universities out of state as well.

Contact your local VFW, American Legion, etc...I write letters to every chapter in our area. We receive checks
ranging from $25 to $250 depending on the size of their unit.

I live in Ohio...our Ohio Lottery Commission donates several items like umbrellas, t-shirts, pens, etc... we can
usually divide what they donate into several door prizes since they donate several items.

I hope this helps.

is print up a letter stating who they are, what they are doing, when their event is and what they need. No one can really do it all alone and they break up the areas to get complete coverage. I am authorized to do a certain amount in a gift card only but if they need/want more they need to check back with my boss and I always tell them when he will be in. One big mistake many do is tell me here is their number and he should call THEM. That doesnt usually happen, good follow-up usually results in what the organization needs. Dont be afraid to go business to business calling on them, a lot of businesses really like the exposure, inexpensive advertising really. Very saavy and experienced organizations offer to display our menus, business cards and print us up in their programs, it is a very good benefit for the business.
My town is very lucky, M&M Mars corporate headquarters is here and they support everything. One of those big M&Ms is always at events. I would look around and see if there are any large companies around, they can dig the deepest for $.
Good luck!
