18 0|0|How does your garden grow? Hows everyones gardening year going?|Quietwaters|Quietwaters39@hotmail.com|07:36:06|06/14/2013|

Picking strawberries here...very good year thank to so much rain and no deer eating them up. Making jam the last few days.

Still picking lettuces, swiss chard, and pea pods. Not great luck with spinach this year, bolted early. Should have zucchini soon, and have picked a few cherry tomatoes, ( was suppose to be a grape tomato plant. )

Have one baby bunny that I have to keep chasing out of the garden, the babies will just eat anything. He likes to get at my pepper plants, even jalapenos , my marigolds, and my beans. I keep the beans fenced until the plants are bigger.

I planted a package of pole beans by mistake, so I had to come up with a cheap way to trellis them. I made two teepes with bamboo, and a pole across the top, then hung twine down also for the beans to grow up on.. I think it will actually look pretty cool and might be a new yearly addition to my garden.

It's harmless to humans & animals but the animals don't like it if they get a sniff or taste of it so will leave your plants alone. Re-apply after watering your garden or after it rains. Works great at keeping the wildlife AND my neighbors' pets out of my garden. :)
Just wash your fruits & veggies when you bring them in from the garden.

I have sandy soil though, and have done all raised bed this year, and those dry out faster. Hope you get less rain for awhile.

gardening. My flowers are doing very well this year. Impatients, petunias, calibrocha, daisies, black eyed susans, and my lilies are almost ready to bloom. They are those beautiful pink and white stargazers. I also planted some seeds in pots. They are coming up but not sure how long it will take for them to bloom, probably late summer. 15|2|I love Swiss Chard.. eat it mostly raw mixed into my salads.|Quietwaters|Quietwaters39@hotmail.com|21:02:00|06/20/2013|

I picked the first cherry tomato last Saturday, 6/15.

So far, I have harvested tons of lettuce (3 cuttings on the Red Sails), spinach (3 cuttings), kale, onions, enough peas for a meal, handfuls of strawberries every few days, 3 hot peppers, couple of carrots.

Everything is growing well.

Debbie 18|1|I did a container garden of lettuce & it start popping up 4 days later. |maraj|maraj64@hotmail.com|09:24:50|06/24/2013|

I have cherry red & big yellow tomato plants & a few kohlrabi, which are doing ok as long as the rabbits leave the kohlrabi alone. Have the planter w/lettuce on my deck & was pretty tickled it started coming up so fast. Waiting for my bag of red potatoes to go start sprouting eyes so I can plant them in the garden. They can stay in the ground til Oct. & will keep thru most of the winter in a cool basement.
But we've been having too much rain so alot of gardens are slow in going. Especially tomatoes which like it hot.
