18 0|0|Costco: Should and Should not buy?|hudge4|hudge95@yahoo.com|10:54:39|05/15/2013|
I am breaking down this week and buying a Costco membership.
What items have you found to be at their best price at Costco? What items would be better purchased elsewhere?
What Kirkland items have you found to be of good quality?

1|1|We think Costco does NOT take mfr coupons & is a bit more expensive than BJ. Also u get lots of coupons Wyb membership|glennie58|glenn_scott@alumni.ksg.harvard.edu|11:52:59|05/15/2013|
Free cooked chicken
Free 48 batteries
Free 24 ok water
They enter a code at the desk and the coupons come in a big pack of great coupons (in the mail).
That said
we got a 114 oz Heinz ketchup for 4.59 (in Raleigh this is outstanding)
Hamburger 88% is 2.99 pound not bad but not too tasty. Harris Teeter sale at this price tastes much better but not on sale very often.
2|2|The gas prices are great too they only take bank cards AE and Costco cards at Costco/gas|glennie58|glenn_scott@alumni.ksg.harvard.edu|11:54:20|05/15/2013|
Can't be beat 3|1|Sometimes u can buy membership thru MyPoints for free|glennie58|glenn_scott@alumni.ksg.harvard.edu|11:55:07|05/15/2013|
Hth 4|1|The pizza and other cooked food u can buy inside are great|glennie58|glenn_scott@alumni.ksg.harvard.edu|11:58:09|05/15/2013|
There's a lb hotdog w/ refillable coke for $1.59
Also the pizza is super large and is great. In our packet of coupons we had a $3 off the pizza so we got XX lg ex cheese pizza for $5 and it took 2-3 days to finish. All pizza are the same price too so you can get 1 w/all the extras for the same price. 5|1|Kirkland chips/ chicken in the can /veg oil almost all produce worth the cst|glennie58|glenn_scott@alumni.ksg.harvard.edu|12:00:26|05/15/2013|

Looking forward to saving some $$ on gas.
Would everyone agree that their chicken/hamburger/steak are of good quality?

10|1|I think the best deal is|fbutte|fyb33@yahoo.com|17:26:12|05/17/2013|
their roitieerie chicken. For $5 you get a big cooked chicken 3lb or larger. It serves me 7 meals or more. Other stores sells their's at higher prices plus their chicken is much smaller only 2 lb or less.
I also like their dinner rolls $2.29 for about 3 dozen.
11|1|I love Kirkland products.|sunriver|sunriver@gmail.com|22:29:42|06/01/2013|

Dried fruits and nuts, snacks, frozen items, their chicken salad from the deli, really good quality produce.
Plus they are really good to their employees. I am a huge Costco fan! Between Costco and Trader Joe's, I pretty much don't shop anywhere else.
Edited to add, I can't comment on meat-- other than occasional chicken, we don't buy it. 12|1|OMG we would be lost without our Costco membership and we've had 'em all!|noway|mizzbishop@gmail.com|02:02:51|06/02/2013|
We have been members of BJ's, Sam's and Costco through the years and have definitely found Costco to be the best. We just got a smokin' deal on a new 55" Samsung tv for $700--we saw the very same tv at Walmart the next day for $1500.
But it's not all about big purchases. If you buy a decent amount of vitamins or otc meds, they always have great deals during sales. They mail you awesome coupons in the mail for all kinds of products. Their Kirkland brand plain marinara sauce is all natural and just the best jarred sauce we've ever bought. It's super cheap too. Buying their bakery bread is always a good deal and it freezes beautifully. K-cups for Keurig brewers are super cheap there too. Marcona almonds, dry pasta, organic chicken, coffee, greek yogurt and toilet paper always make our list too. Just keep your eyes peeled for the coupon mailers they send out and go on a weekend to load up on the free samples. I also adore the Costco snack bar- SUPER cheap good pizza!
13|1|Pharmacy access without membership...|papercut|It7ly@aol.com|14:11:42|06/07/2013|
Read in a recent Consumer Reports drug-pricing article that one can buy at the Costco pharmacy at member prices *without* having to purchase a membership. Has any non-member here actually tried to do this?
Gifted/Personal Paypal existing funds (PPEF) greatly
preferred, but I'll work with you on other trade
methods if you have consistently good feedback
here.

Thanks! 14|2|No but that sounds like how you can go into Costco/Sam's liquor stores and buy without a membership..|noway|mizzbishop@gmail.com|14:42:29|06/07/2013|
so I bet you can! I would call ahead at your location and see what the people at the pharmacy counter say. I would just be worried about getting harrassed at the entrance where you show your card to get in.

16|2|I can verify that about the pharmacy as I have used them even when we didn't have a membership...|sunriver|sunriver@gmail.com|19:12:06|06/08/2013|
You can enter through the "exit" door near their customer service desk and just tell them you are using the pharmacy. Their prescription prices were the lowest we found for what meds we needed at the time.
In fact I was recently behind someone at Bi-Mart (a Northwest chain) at the pharmacy and someone's meds were going to be $400 for a months supply and they couldn't afford that. Since I had accidently overheard, I butted in and sent them to Costco too. I should get perks for being such a cheerleader for them, LOL! 17|3|Thanks for this helpful info...|papercut|It7ly@aol.com|03:48:43|06/09/2013|
... especially the tip about going via the exit door.
Never been to a Costco, but one just opened 5 miles from me. My meds - all generics - cost $10 for a 90 day supply at Giant Foods with no help from insurance, which is actually cheaper than at the Kaiser Permanente pharmacy where I'm a member!
