If so you should totally map out where the Costco locations are and stop there for bathrooms and meals- super cheap and you can stretch your legs and get free samples. Also look up where parks are in the bigger cities you pass through for some local culture and fresh air/leg stretching. Also, Super Walmarts are good for grabbing car snacks, bathrooming and leg stretching along the way. 3|1|I always look for a hotel that has a pool and free full breakfast (m)|KELLYNEISH|KELLYNEISH@AOL.COM|06:13:29|04/11/2013|

Its a little more, but I always like to stay at a Holiday in Express -- pool, big rooms, and a FULL breakfast -- With my 2 boys, I figure having breakfast included saves us $20+, plus we always take extra fruit, rolls, bagels, donuts or whatever is on the buffet for the road...saves us from having to buy snacks later that day. The breakfast has everything from yogurt, eggs, biscuits, gravy, pancakes, donuts, fruit, oatmeal, cereal, toast, bagels you name it!! Holiday inn Even provides boxes to take the cinnamon rolls with you

The pool helps the kids wind down from being cooped up in the car

Hope that helps!!!

Much neater than dividing a big bag and making a mess in the car.

I'm going on a road trip w/ DD's Girl Scout troop (all high schoolers)
from WI to Boston & NY, for 2+ weeks. Started picking up clearance
Easter candy on Tuesday. Got bags of Nerds (with the mini boxes inside)
and Charms Blow Pops, and a bag of Gummy Easter Bunnies (not individually
packaged, but at least they won't melt)

I've also been using the $1/1 Juicy Juice coupons to get lots of drink
boxes.

I didn't think of those little individual size snacks. I hope my Target still has some left.

Keep those tips coming!

Redbox is great for when on the road. You can order and return to any box. 9|1|Been there done that .... :) (m)|carmenanderson|cloudcars@verizon.net|21:28:55|04/12/2013|

If they like to read make sure they have a couple of new library books each---great for a quiet road trip. Plot your course online and do your homework for
hotels and food. Use one of the websites where you can "name your price" for a motel room. We generally travel 8 to 10 hrs a day at the most. If you know what cities you'll be going thru
make sure to get restaurant.com gift certificates when they're having a sale. We either pack sandwich stuff for lunch, or do a drive thru dollar burger and a share a bag of chips + bottled waters (fries and drinks add up quick)....Email me if you need "help" getting thru Texas. If you can, avoid staying in West Texas at all. The motels are full and its hard to find a vacancy due to the oil field guys. 11|2| call for maps and|countrygirl|electricunit@cs.com|17:15:19|04/13/2013|

points of interest. My d.h. is planning a trip to Tn. from Ct. in
mid may on motorcycle. He has received lots of maps and info from
Va, WV,Tn,Ky,NJ, NY. He wants to go through the mountains and
found so many other points of interest along the way. He is mapping
a tentative route and trying to avoid the big cities. There is so
much to see along the way and he says they will get off anywhere
that catches their eye.
Do bring a cooler with lots of munches.(fruits are good)We eat a
lot of apples. I even brought 2 24 packs of water and put them in
the cooler as needed. 12|3|Since I work at a hotel.. my recommendation is DO NOT make reservations...|Kristy|mi3zons1@yahoo.com|00:15:52|04/14/2013|

Hit travel centers. They almost always have coupon booklets with huge discounts. My hotel averages $129+ in the summer but if we have availability it can be as low as $79 using the coupon in the travel book. Check with the hotel most offer free breakfast, ours offers a free dinner Monday through Thursday.

They usually have bargain hotel prices along the way, not bargain hotels, just bargain prices..

Also make sandwiches instead of eating out. Bring granola bars, much healthier than chips.
