It has been a cold March here, but I got my garden started the last two days. Changing up my beds somewhat, so got them all dug up and put in some salad greens, radishes and onions.
Anyone plant using the W.O.R.D. system, ( Wide rows, organic, raised beds, deep beds.) I already did some of this but set up all my beds now with this system of planting.

Planted lettuces, spinach, kale, broccoli plants, onion and garlic bulbs, and pea, more spinach, swiss chard seeds. All planted last weekend before the snowstorm. :) Everything still looks good! I also bought rosemary on impulse and planed that. Had strawberry plants. Not all came back, so I filled in the bed with more.

Can't plant the warm weather stuff till after May 15.

REALLY CAN'T GROW LARGE KINDS OF TOMATOS WELL HERE BECAUSE IT GETS TOO HOT BEFORE THEY ARE FULLY DEVELOPED AND THEY JUST GET DREALLY TOUGH SKINS OR DRY SCABY RINGS AROUND THE TOP. DISCOVERED THE TRICK LAST YEAR, GROW CHERRY AND GRAPE TOMATOS AND THEY WILL GIVE LOADS OF GREAT TOMATOS AND BE DONE BY THE TIME THE HOT TEMPS REALLY COME IN THE MIDDLE OF JULY . NOW IF I CAN JUST FINE A REAL NICE GRAPE TOMATO PLANT OR TWO, I'LL BE A HAPPY CAMPER

Too cold here yet so will likely be sometime in May before risk is passed to start a garden. Last year at this time we had 80° temps that started in March. Got hit w/a cold snap but warmed back up again. People were planting gardens before the end of April, & that usually doesn't start around here til 1st or 2nd wkend in May.

Smile... it makes people wonder what you're up to!

We still have snow on the ground here in Northern WI and I hear more on the way for Saturday.
Its been cold since way back in October. We still have well over a foot of snow in some places
and driveway is still icy. Last year the lakes were thawed and outdoor chores were being done.
Quite the opposite this year.
