I've been at Fedex when people have brought in their suitcases and shipped them. Said it was cheaper to send them to the hotel via Fedex ground then paying the fees to put them on the plane.

You can always call 1800-GO-FEDEX or 1800-PICKUPS and double check.

I say double check because my parents went to ship a package at Fedex the other day with a styrofoam cooler they "recycled" (which came to them from Omaha Steaks) and Fedex refused it saying it was an "unsecure" package...they went to UPS and UPS said "what to mean by "unsecure?"" it's more secure than a junky cardboard box that some people "recycle". They were happy to take it.
