A doctor told me it is just a cop-out on the part of the doctor who has given up on trying to find what is wrong. He told me not to believe it and always press for more tests. I've been to so many doctors over the years and the truth is some are just more competent than others. I could see 10 doctors and get 10 opinions, hard to find one doctor who cares enough to find out what is wrong.

There are a lots of rare diseases out there and common ones too that docs just miss noticing, if any doctor tried to give me the throwaway diagnosis of fibro, I would ask him why he doesn't want to find out what is really wrong...and to refer me to someone who can. 4|2|I see alot of doctors as well and after going to a "holistic doctor", things are getting better for me concerning my health. |cashcoll|cashcoll@yahoo.com|17:27:12|12/06/2012|

My primary doctor even told me to do everything that he tells me to. My sister and I see him every 3 to 4 months. I would see if you could find a "holistic doctor",in your area.

The problem with MOST doctor is that "THEY TREAT THE SYMPTOMS BUT NOT THE CAUSE"!!

His name is Barry Joneshill here is his site: http://holisticvitamins.com/cart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=56

Someone recorded him on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqbXh01VRMk

5|1|Yes, it's real. Symptoms include memory problems, pain, fatigue, insomnia etc. It takes a long time to diagnose|glennie58|glenn_scott@alumni.ksg.harvard.edu|17:53:42|12/06/2012|

and looks to some people like chronic fatigue syndrome.
The insomnia can be mistaken for sleep apnea

Except the pain is so intense IMHO.

My doctor gave me ambien/lunesta for sleep first

then 800 mg Ibuprofen/Naproxen 600, and gabapentine for the nerve pain. Sometimes this would make me sick or dizzy (I tried them in combo at times to try and get some consistent relief for 3 years)

3 months ago I got a warning from my new pharmacist at Kroger's, (never one from CVS)and I realized I was having problems with pain and needed some real help.

My DR. then proscribed cyclobenzadrene which works great at times, and she said the other times I can take lyrica & cymbalta together so I take what I can afford to buy at any given time.

HTH (This went on for about 3 years with intermittent bouts of pain and sleepnessness and depression and a lot of prayer, sometimes you gotta just ride the pain, kwim?) 6|1|doc who coined the disease now says it isn't real|cinda68|lacinda68@gmail.com|18:01:50|12/06/2012|

From the article:

Fibromyalgia is a real disease. Or so says Pfizer in a new television advertising campaign for Lyrica, the first medicine approved to treat the pain condition, whose very existence is questioned by some doctors. For patient advocacy groups and doctors who specialize in fibromyalgia, the Lyrica approval is a milestone. They say they hope Lyrica and two other drugs that may be approved this year will legitimize fibromyalgia, just as Prozac brought depression into the mainstream.

But other doctors — including the one who wrote the 1990 paper that defined fibromyalgia but who has since changed his mind — say that the disease does not exist and that Lyrica and the other drugs will be taken by millions of people who do not need them. 7|2|There is this solution!|cashcoll|cashcoll@yahoo.com|18:27:02|12/06/2012|

Like I had stated before. Doctor's only do this, "THEY TREAT THE SYMPTOMS BUT NOT THE CAUSE"!!

What I do is see my many doctors and the "holistic doctor"!

BUT before I do that, I give it ALL over to GOD and put it in his hands and let his WILL be done. I let him show me the way to go and some of you'all might not believe in that. I do and ever since I started doing it, I have gotten better. Not to the degree that I could go back to work (How I wish I could)! Each day is a new day but if I can go forward in any direction then I know I am on the right path.

It wasn't easy to come by but yet I am extremely grateful for the afflictions that God has sent me. It is indeed true, I had to lose my life to find it and by facing death is when I learned how to live. I'm looking forward to a new body and I am thankful to God that He wouldn't allow me to trust or hope in this flesh.

Psalm 119:71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.

Isaiah 30:20 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:

1 Thess 5 ~ 16 Rejoice evermore. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 9|1|Amen Teresa & Cinda! I too have seen the .....|Skaytes|skaytez@gmail.com|06:18:50|12/07/2012|

power of holistic healing as well and my daughters are proof of it especially my epileptic daughter. I still have them see their regular drs/specialists BUT have to admit the holistic drs have done more for them then even the BEST specialists have been able to do and that is the truth. Like Teresa says, the reg drs treat symptoms NOT the causes! yes..fibro is real..have a number of friends who have it. There are a lot of autoimmune type diseases out there and things reg and specialists drs have yet to fully understand. Also often they are in cahoots (if that is how you spell it?!) with the drug companies which is BIG money! They don't WANT the cures/help to be known as it would cost them millons..billions even..of dollars in revenue. That is why they are lobbying to stop holistic medicine..would have to have a license to practice it just like a regular dr has to. Greed...so disgusting and at the cost of peoples health..and lives! :( 10|2|so true, follow the money|cinda68|lacinda68@gmail.com|17:15:24|12/07/2012|

I've never been to a holistic doctor, I just try to do my best to do my own research and use nutrition, supplements. Big Pharma, oh boy...don't get me started. Its all about the money, doctors getting kickbacks for chemo, gifts for prescribing the new pills...on and on. I watched a documentary the other night about the kids being given psych meds from a Mom and other Moms who lost their children. Unbelievably sad and it makes me sick too because it really is about the money.

Autoimmune disorders sure are going around, inflammation and what is causing it, things like not enough iodine and high carb diets...all can be suspect. The docs only know what they are taught and they are bombarded with salespeople, drug reps, that have no medical training whatsoever. Some docs won't allow drug reps to visit them and that is a great thing, wish they all did it. 11|3|I hate fibro,|angNC|memawang@nc.rr.com|02:29:04|12/09/2012|

Took many years for the drs to figure it out and then people think it's in your head. 12|4|definitely not in your head|cinda68|lacinda68@gmail.com|03:16:17|12/09/2012|

there is some physical reason for it all, just need docs to actually find the cause 13|1|I have it and it is REAL!!|2kidsmom|pgladden4@aol.com|23:07:16|12/12/2012|

For me it is very painful when I have a flare up and it last about a week.
I have mono now on top of it but luckily not having a flare. When it flares
no walking for me. It makes me weak in my legs all the time. Never let them
give you Lyrica I gained 50 lbs in 3 months and I still have the weight. That
was three years ago. I take Savella and that works very well for me.
Don't know if it is the mono that has made me weak the last 6 months or the fibro.
Hard to tell but my mono doesn't hurt. My fibro is very painful.
If you ever want to talk I am here.
Take care,
Cindy
