I was diagnosed (FINALLY!) with fibromyalgia... I am so happy to have an explanation for the intense and varied pains!
Did you ever wonder if you were just crazy? LOL I got lots of new meds to try and my doctor actually told me to
exercise more 'gently' ROFL... I lost 30 pounds so far (anyhoo, I was feeling rebellious because how can you lose
weight exercising gently? And the only time I don't have pain is while I am actually exercising... duh!

I've tried cominations of Ibuprofin 800, gabapentine, naproxine, and I got cymbalta, a new muscle relaxer, and lyrica...

And I'm just happier because now I know, kwim?

I've always thought that a health issue seems to feel worse when you don't know & when nobody else does either. The not knowing just adds to the misery.
I was diagnosed w/fibromyalgia a few mos. ago, after a year of feeling crappy 90% of the time. I was about ready to give up but at least now I KNOW it's not all in my head. LOL
Anti-depressents & I don't get along very well but I'm currently on low-dose Doxepin which helps w/some of the inflammation & helps me deal w/the pain better. I don't like pain pills but I have endo besides so am ok w/it.
I too was told that swimming/being in a pool does wonders as well as walking. I bought a pool this past summer but it would be an ice rink this time of year here, altho I suppose I could set it up in my basement. ROFL!! And yes, very gentle exercise. Heat helps my lower back but an ice pack has become best friends w/my head/neck/shoulder/upper back. LOL The hips are the worst on the lower end so they don't agree w/walking much, & so far, my legs & arms aren't as bothersome but I've been told that's coming.
I also found out that any cold, sinus, flu, etc. feels twice as bad for someone w/fibro than it does for someone w/out fibro as it compounds an already hurting body.
I wasn't happy w/the diagnosis but like you Glennie, I was relieved to finally know what was wrong w/me.
Take care & go easy on yourself! :)

Smile... it makes people wonder what you're up to!

I just had a 5 week sinus infection (this is what finally pushed me to the dr), how can a sinus infection go on for so long and hurt so much?
Anyhoo sorry you got it too, it's horrible, isn't it? My pride (I only got a little left lol) won't let me take anti-deps too so I just get up when I can.
When I got to the dr I had two colums of pain descriptions and she laughed and said fibromyalgia given the last three years of pain RX that
didn't work or stopped working. Thus the relief, whoever heard of pain that beats medication? LOL.

So, is that pool, when the ice is cracked, big enough for two??? LOL
