Have a question regarding part time hourly workers and hurricane Sandy. I work in a school district 5 hours a day in the food service unit. We were out of work for 7 days due to no power, no heat, and bad road conditions. The Board of Education has a meeting to discuss our pay situation. Has anyone had this problem due to hurricanes? In the summer we are not allowed to collect unemployment but under these conditions our area was deemed disaster and there is disaster unemployment assistance. Of course full pay would help us more than unemployment. Anything is better than nothing. We are the lowest paid unit in the district. Hope someone has some knowledge of this topic. Thanks for reading this post.

an employee of a private co not the school system. He collects UE in the summer and also filed and was already paid for last week when school closed bc he had an open claim.
sorry you don't have the same benefits. 2|1|I think your best bet would be to call Unemployment directly, and ask. Hope it works out for you.|dlpavitt|dlpavitt@att.net|05:59:31|11/13/2012|

If you are a HONEST trader, there is nothing to fear in having a feedback link. If you do not have one, please set one up, BEFORE contacting me for a trade. If you insist on not having a feedback link, please do not contact me to trade. Feedback links protect all of us, on RS. Thanks for understanding. missing one week would be considered your waiting week.

Definitely check into filing for disaster unemployment benefits. The rules for these benefits are different and much more lenient. Even self employed
individuals can receive it. Usually there is a generous time limit to apply and claims can be backdated. I worked with umemployment for 32 years so if anyone has any questions about the program, send me an email. 5|2|but u would still get paid for your "waiting week" once u started to draw.....at least in ky you would|couponsnsamples|cpsnsamples@aol.com|00:56:30|11/14/2012|

if you only miss one week, you can start your claim but it only starts if you miss more work.
