Hi, I would like your opinion on what you feel would be a fair price to charge someone for looking for specific books they are looking for? A "book searching" job.. Not all of us can afford to buy books new and doesn't it drive you crazy when there's a book you've been dying to read or books missing in a series? I know I won't read a book in a series unless I have all of them.. I mean, why read book number 3 when you haven't read number 1 and 2? Then there's that some of us don't have the time to go to yard sales and thrift shops and stuff.. or, the means to do so... I know that if I knew of someone who went around looking for books, I'd ask them to please look for say, "The Help" for me. I would LOVE to read that book, but darned if i'm going to pay $10 for it! And i've got books in series that i've been trying to find to complete for YEARS... But i'm not going to pay over say, $1 .. SO HERES my question... What's a fair price for me to charge for finding a book that someone has been looking for? I go to many yard sales, thrift shops, and exchange books with others. It kills me when I've had a book that I just got rid of, and then found out a friend had been looking for that specific one. We have to consider my time, and we have to consider the fact that the person has to pay for the book and the postage. SO, what WOULD pay or charge for a "Book Finding" service? Thanks SO much for your input.. :)

We are having a community yard sale tomorrow.

I have quite a few books that I am putting out and so do my neighbors.

Send me a list of books that you are looking for.
The books will be selling for $1 or less.

I guess I'm no help. I go to yard sales and thrift stores so find lots of books plus there's paperbackswap.

:D
SandyC 4|1|when I but from a tag sale, I will not pay more than 1.00 for paperbacks, and 3.00 for harcovers. Since these books need to shipped as well, I would think 2.00 per paperback, and 4.50 for a hardcover. Not sure others would even want to pay that much. A friend of mine that goes tag sale hopping, thinks I am crazy to spend more than a .25 on a softcover, and 1.00 for a hardcover max@|dlpavitt|dlpavitt@att.net|21:20:36|11/02/2012|

Sandy, I understand what you mean.. I'm not sure if i'd pay someone either. Some people can't get out there though and there are some books that some people have probably been wanting to read for years.. Donna, you know, I think there are only a few that i'd actually pay more then $1 for right now.. I try not to pay no more then about .50 for softcover and maybe $1 for hardcover if I REALLY want to read it or it's by my favorite author. Ideally, I like to mainly buy softcover cuz I hate forking over anything over .50 for books since I already have too many.. .25 for softcover is my norm though and it's not very often I pay .50 but TODAY I did.. I bought 2 softcovers for .50 ea because one was from a series that I needed and the other was from a very favorite author that I hadn't read yet.. THANK YOU for your input and it was very helpful on your opinion on prices..:)

Is that what you mean about finding the books for others? You could be on to something if you were to run into rare copies of certain books. I'm sure someone would pay a good amount to have the rare ones they are looking for.

If you are out and about and ever run into KJV bibles, leather bound, standard text (no study bible or footnotes), I would love more of those. I especially love the ones with family history recorded inside, handwritten notes by verses, etc.

Also wouldn't mind older history books, especially on Egypt, ancient civilizations, etc. I used to have tons of books but bibles and history texts are the only ones that interest me these days. 7|3|Thanks Cinda|destiny|destinyroger@yahoo.com|10:17:33|11/03/2012|
