I'm concerned for our RS family and praying for us all in the path of this storm. I wanted to start a check-in thread so those affected can let us know all is well.

Electricity has blinked only 1 time so far. Supposed to be worst time from now until 2 AM. Our son has 3 sump pumps running all of the time and is still getting water in his basement. He lives 2 blocks down the street but he is downhill from us. If his electricity goes out he will be swimming...... 9|1|I'm worried about RebekkaVA. We have had some rain and winds but nothing like what other people are going thru and my heart goes out to all of the people that are getting the brunt of this storm.

Robin(whitmarg) is good too...on her way to work...Really amazing that it made land about 1/2 hr away and we were fine, but man, NY got hammered....the news is amazing to look out. The shore areas here got slammed(AC, OC etc) but inland I made out ok...they tried to tell me to evacuate, but the neighbor lives on the water(we do not) and he said they were hi and dry so I knew I would be fine... 21|3|Glad to see you posting Jodes! going from one powered house to another. LOL. During the day we are home and then at night we have been camping out with friend's. But yesterday we went to see some really good friends, who have power, we (the 4 of us) stayed all day, then they invited us to sleep over and we stayed all morning. They gave us their generator so right now we are wathcing a movie, with a lamp and we are all in front of the fire. But tonight we'll all be in one room huddled for heat. LOL. I just couldn't sleep away from home again. Thankfully my friend let us do laundry, we all showered, so we are good.
Thank goodness for our fire place. And we have oil heat.. no gas so there's no stove top. BUT w/ the generator we just made tea, the kids had toast, brett barbecued the last of our meat that was in our iced cooler.
Our house wasn't damaged at all which is a huge blessing.
We'll make it through this. Interestingly enough, the kids haven't uttered a SINGLE complaint..it's my DH that is annoyed. LOL.
As long as they can hang out with friends, charge their IPODS and eat they are good. :)
Hopefully they will go back to school on Monday and the day off they had for election day is canceled so they will be in school which is good b/c I have to go back to work.

we had power, heat, phone outages for over a week. I still can't get to work since transportation is out. What a mess. Friends nearby lost their entire home--I've been helping out with donations. Lots of people have nothing nearby. We're just a few blocks away from where they were evacuated. Luckily we have no real damage. But it is so sad. Their entire homes are empty and they have nothing. no clothes or furniture. The nation guard was here giving out stuff. Power companies are still down there and red cross and Femma and lots of others all helping out. At least people care.
I was getting pizza yesterday and someone comes in and is saying how they are doing great charging over $900/hr for first two hours getting water out of homes and $100+/hr after that. I couldn't believe how thoughtless he was. Even the pizza people spoke up and said something how people are supposed to help out those who lost everything, not take advantage of them. Wonder how people like that sleep at night. My son's friend no longer has his home..we were helping to get them so stuff and I think they are stayhing now with cousins nearby. Makes me cry at night. At least I see improvements and caring people around. That helps.
