Never give your kids your good lamps. LOL Gave my son my good 3-way floor lamp yesterday & now I can't see for crappola in my living room, despite using a different, 1-way floor lamp. Poo!
The one I'm using now is evidently more for a bedroom or tv room as far as not being very bright. Can't put a higher wattage bulb in or it'll melt the plastic shade. Need to buy me another lamp I guess. LOL

Ott lamps are quite expensive but there are "Ott" like lamps at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. JoAnn fabric stores carry the Ott's and sometimes have them at 50% off or a coupon for 50% off. Get a floor lamp that is bendable. They give a very nice light.

Thought it was attached to the stem so didn't think it could be removed but voila! Just removing the shade helped improve the lighting some.
Nothing like watching Stephen King's "IT" in a dimly lit room. LOLOL

I've been stocking up on jigsaw puzzles again for the winter mos. so am definitely going to need to replace my good lighting in here. Going bumming around today to check some out & if nothing I like or want to buy, I'll check out Amazon. :)
I had to get new glasses a couple mos. ago cuz something changed in my eyes last winter to where I was having to take them off again to read & having to look at my computer thru my bi-focals. Thought it was this crud that I'd been dealing with affecting my eyes. Lo & behold! My vision had IMPROVED so I simply needed new glasses. All is good again. :)
