I also remember when there were no super markets open on Sunday. And if you went to a Mom & pop store you couldn't buy toilet paper. You couldn't wear slacks when you went downtown. People dressed up for church. There was hardly any traffic unlike today's traffic. Gas station attendants came out and washed your car windows and checked your oil and they even pumped your gas. You got dishes etc in boxes of laundry detergents. And oh so many more things.
I prefer no fee paypal, but will accept cc, stamps plus postage
Thank You

that is exactly what we need for our economy right now 15|1|I remember when:|20yrrefunder|tradernikki@yahoo.com|14:13:49|10/07/2012|
There was a rebate on either Fruit of the Loom or Hanes panties for little girls - a form was printed right on the bag. They cost $2 for a 3 pack. All you had to do is send in the form to get your $2 back. Then there was a store form out for $2 that took the upc and the crt - don't think there were any limits on either one of them - they did not limit rebates so much "back then". I bought every pack of panties in this county and surrounding counties and gave them to everybody that I knew and to shelters, etc.

did most of their trading from the ad sections of rebate MAGAZINES--before internet trading was popular! The monthly magazines got smaller and smaller until they just disappeared. Trading online is much faster but I still kinda miss the old days! lol

Ice cream & soda pop were a rare treat.
When I'd stay at my grandparents' during the summer mos., I'd get to tag along w/my grandpa sometimes when he went to grind feed in his old, bubble-shaped Ford pick-up. Once he was done w/his biz in town, he'd treat me to either a bottle of Dad's rootbeer OR an ice cream cone from the soda fountain in the pharmacy. If it was right before the noon lunch hour, I had to keep it a secret from my grandma, or we'd both get in trouble. LOL
Back in those days, ice cream was reserved ONLY for special occasions such as birthdays, & it was the same w/soda pop, being able to have a bottle of rootbeer or coca cola ONLY after our work was done in the tobacco field for the week or for a celebration of sorts, maybe a birthday party or on the 4th of July.
And then there were the rare treats of getting to go to the rootbeer stand.... Oh, how I loved their rootbeer & wanted to even eat the glass mug it came in, it tasted SOOO good. LOL

We had an insulated metal box we kept on the front porch. The milkman would drive around in his white cargo van & put glass bottles of milk in the box after collecting the milk money my parents left in there for him.
I used to use that box to hold the "stray" baby birds, baby squirrels or baby rabbits I'd bring home, for safe keeping til their mommies could come & get them. Caught the irritation of my parents on a few occasions when they'd open the lid to put the milk money in the box only to find a dead baby bird/squirrel/rabbit. I'd be SO broken-hearted if their mommies didn't find them. Years later I realized that on the occasions the mommies did "find" them & take them back home, it was my parents who actually found them, thankfully, & let them out. ;)

I remember money for food went a lot further than it does today. In the mid 60's, $30.00 would buy a lot of groceries for a whole week. 28|1|Remember .05 Candy Bars? |Geri|geristiber@gmail.com|16:10:09|10/12/2012|
