As many of you know my Mom fell and broke her hip in May, she has been bedbound since then and I have been taking intermittent leave to care for her. I decided to give up my full-time position at work and move to a flexi or part-time position. I am 45 years old and it is the first time in my life that I do not have a full-time job. I am a little nervous because my new position is contingent on them needing me, if our patient census is low and I have signed up to work it is me that is cancelled first. My husband is in the military and lives about 6 hours away so we have to pay mortagage here and rent where he lives. I have never depended on my husband for total support, have always been use to knowing I can take care of myself. I am sure there is someone out there who knows how I am feeling. I am trying to just turn it over to God but that is easier said than done. I have even applied for a second flexi job just in case, I am hoping if I get this one that between the two I can work the number of days I need to survive. I just want to spend more time with my Mom because I am sure her time here with me is limited. So PLEASE pray for me to have the strength and wisdom to turn this over and take advantage of the opportunity to love and care for my Mom the way she deserves.
On a more positive note, the second job I applied for is a Hospice position and that is my true calling, I worked as a Hospice nurse for more than 10 years and only left it because at the time I was caring for my Father before he died and could not do the after hours call that it required.
