that is interesting. I am finding that the "new" coupons without the numbers on the barcode are not scanning in most places. (IPs especially) The "technology" for many of these companies is just not up-to-date. Fortunately, most of the stores are manually punching them in.

Leave it to Walmart....another reason for me NOT to shop there.

I've just about given up on WM and coupons unless I know it's something that will scan or is not free or a BOGO.

Even the "overage" still throws some cashiers into a tizzy. I just state that if they have to call the supervisor or MOD then fine but face value of the coupon is their policy no matter what the overage amount.

I would take their coupon policy in and ask to see the manager... I honestly believe that some cashiers just make up these rules when they don't know how to do something like manually punch in the numbers or don't know the coupon policy. I never know from one visit to the next which cashier is going to give me a hard time and which isn't.. You know darned well that if one is accepting a certain kind of coupon and then the other one isn't, then SOMEONE is making things up!
So many of our home printers are inferior and don't print out so clearly for their old worn out scanners to scan. So is it OUR fault if their scanners are inferior?
I tried to use a coupon at our Family Dollar and had the same problem.. They made up some stupid reason why they couldn't accept my coupon just because in all actuality, they didn't know how to manually take the coupon off.. It wouldn't scan because I have a crummy printer. I was so darned upset I actually told the manager that he was making it up that the reason why the coupon wouldn't scan is because "the item was already on sale and cheap enough". REALLY? WHERE on the coupon does it SAY that? Ridiculous! When I told him I was no longer going to do my business there anymore, he changed his tune (just see how far you can push me..haha!)and actually came running out to my car apologizing right and left and offered to give me a $5 gift card if I would come back! I haven't been back but darn.. they DO have good deals...
