I've read that the "by the pound" stores are the "left-overs" that didn't sell at their regular retail stores. Is this true? The closest "by the pound" is a few hours from here.

One closer would be nice just to see if you could find anything worth getting but the regular stores here get picked over pretty well so not sure if there would be anything good left to ship to a "by the pound" location to sell.

Prices here at the regular stores aren't bad IMO. About $3.39/$3.59 for shirts and pants, $4.59 for jackets/blazers/sweaters, $1.39 for other items in the bins which is usually t-shirts, tank tops and shorts. (I don't have kids so I can't remember those prices but people seem to fill baskets up for very little IMO). I've gotten some pretty nice things in the last month. Mostly Lands End, Gap, Old Navy, Brooks Brothers, POLO, etc. All very good name brands and some still new with tags (a nice brown velvet Land End blazer and 2 Lands End Polo shirts...that alone was worth every penny as the blazer tag said $129.50 and the Polo shirts even though the price was cut off I know were avg. $20 each retail! So for my less than $13 I think I did well!) I do have my favorite locations depending on what I'm looking for clothing or general housewares. Some locations have really gross dirty clothing and the stores are the same way and others have nicer and cleaner stuff. Here it's usually obvious what quality of goods you are going to find inside based on what area of town it is in.

I LOVE THRIFT SHOPPING...some weeks it's good and some bad but I just love the thrill of the hunt! My job takes me to different sides of town every week so when I'm done with work I take time to stop and thrift shop on my way home. Funny how you see some of the same people every week who do the same thing. There are many other thrift store "regulars" out there. Some seem to make a living buying and selling but I just don't see how myself.

THe store has lots of clothes, shoes but

I've seen jeans for $14.99 USED!! I'm talking Levi's too! It's ridiculous! Goodwill has started doing ebay for a large amount of the good stuff... so there aren't a bunch of great deals like there used to be. I check the store on Sunday mornings usually when everything goes half off. because they charge such high prices now, the nicer more expensive stuff if about what it used to be back before they raised their prices. 5|1|Another great day thrifting!|bluh2oeyes|bluh2oeyes@yahoo.com|16:07:23|09/14/2012|

Went to Goodwill and TROSA yard sale today (TROSA is a work program for Substance Abusers in treatment or after care, etc.)

They have a HUGE yard sale a few times a year to help pay for housing, etc for their residents. I didn't hit the jackpot but I did get a few great finds.

TROSA had a bunch of Eddie Bauer damaged or 2nds. I got an EB black sweater $3 (damage was a few small ~ 1" long bleach streaks on the right sleeve near the cuff...Mr. Black Sharpie fixed it so you would never know it had a bleach spot). Long sleeve EB t-shirt $2...tag $24.95 said missed being hemmed hand written on it...easy to fix that. And a EB cardigan style sweatshrit with fancy ribbon work and ribbon flowers on it $3...never found what was wrong with it except it looked like it might have been worn and washed...maybe it shrunk and was returned? Perfect gift for my Mom! And last item I got was a Miracle Suit Swim Skirt $2...goes perfect with the top (same brand) I got at Goodwill just over a month ago. TROSA had so many nice things but I don't need any furniture, etc. so I just spent time browsing that area.

My Goodwill find of the day was a Gap Classic style blazer Cotton fabric in a dark charcoal...brand new $4.59. Online similar (in black) is $98 reatail. So not a huge haul but pretty good!

Now I need to organize my finds from the last few weeks and clean out somethings from my closet that I know do not fit and donate or have stains and toss.
