and I have to say... for the first time ever, I feel like he is finally going to get help. The teachers were awesome... his teacher is trained to work with autistic children... so his meltdowns won't faze her a bit, they are prepared to get him through them. They have staff on hand to help and all came in to say hi. They have behavioral therapists, aids, Occuptional Therapists, etc. She looked at me and asked if I had been paying for all of his treatments all these years myself. They were shocked! They are going to schedule a meeting to go over his IEP, to go over his OT that he's currently getting and see if they can do any of it in the school. The teacher talked about accomodations for the items he has trouble with... it all sounds so promising. His class has 9 boys in it... all with similar issues.
This is such a relief... we have already claimed bankruptcy and been struggling with the medical bills all these years. This almost sounds too good to be true! And my son is excited for the first time ever about school!
