Family Dollar has only been here in my town for a few months and already i'm fed up with them. I don't use coupons very often because even with them here, the item is too high and they don't double at any of our stores... I got burnt out having so much trouble even trying to use coupons. Well, thought I would start trying again... I was really excited because our new Family Dollar has some good buys and they say in their ad they take manuf. coupons plus you can combine with their store coupons.
I printed off the $1/16 cans of 9 Lives cat food and took it in. It was on sale 3/.99. I got 16 cans and went to the register. The guy said he hadn't learned yet how to do coupons so he had to find someone to help him. That someone tried to scan the coupon and it wouldn't go thru. I told them sometimes my printer doesn't print the upc so clearly so he'd have to manually take the $1 off.. All this time a little voice in my head kept saying over and over "THIS is why I quit using coupons!" So HE called the manager up to the front and the manager tried to scan it to no avail. I told him the same thing.. "You can manually take it off because it's probably not a clear print." Nope.. he wouldn't do it.. Instead, he told me that I couldn't use it because the cat food was already cheap enough!! "WHAT? You're KIDDING ME! In all the years I've been using coupons, i've never heard that made-up story! You're just making it up because you don't know how to take the darned coupon off!" And then I told him over and over again that I would never do business with them again and reminded him as I walked out, that he was just making that story up.
I am not an outspoken person but I just have had enough! The coupon was a clear as a bell saying it was good on 16 cans and nowhere on the coupon did it say that it wasn't good on sale items. So I got inside my car and here runs the manager up to my window. He pleaded with me to come back in and do business with them and offered to give me a $5 giftcard if I did.. I told him I'd think about it for another time but not today and besides.. if they didn't learn how to do the coupons, then I'd still be having the same problem when I went back.. BUMMER!!!

Young dumb cashier said Wait I can't take these the item was only $2.88. I said well then make the coupon $2.88 but policy is you give me $3 off. She flipper her light so it was flashing. She looked like an idiot when the manager told her exactly what I said to make them $3 each.
