I'm sitting in the hospital. Been here since Sunday afternoon. Came in with severe dizziness. Within minutes the ER doc decided it was a stroke and started treating as such. I took my blackberry and started researching strokes and saw nothing that led me to that conclusion. So after about 7 hours they admitted me. Spent all day yesterday seeing neuro folks, physical theraphy folks, had ekg, cat scan, blood work (I have none left) and last night an MRI and MRA. Guess what... all my tests came back PERFECT. No stroke. Go figure!!! I'm dizzy. Vertigo. Trying meclizine but it's not making a great dent in it. So physical theraphy to move the little crystals in my inner ear. That's all I wanted... I came in saying I think I have vertigo. They said we think you're having a stroke, give us your Blue Cross Blue Shield card... okey doky. So about $50K later (sorry BC/BS) I'll be going home later today. Ugh!!! I'm probably going to miss that CVS sale that ends tonight. a girl at work was having read bad migrains and vertigo, and I have heard of others dealing with this because alergie season has been so bad this year.

I'm hoping that I go back to "normal" soon. Feeling very useless and clumsy and ineffectual. While I'm looking forward to returning to work tomorrow, I also feel like people will be able to look at me and see something "off." Clearly, my walking is weird. I get dizzy around the 6th step and kinda do a double step or something. I think I probably look like I'm staggering out of a bar - which will be funny to anyone who knows I've had the same bottle of red wine for a year now and it's still 3/4 full! I don't really think the meclizine does anything for me. I'm really hoping the PT does on Monday.
Hubby had issues with this 20+ years ago and once in a while will get a tinge of it. So we always have bonine (meclizine) in the house. Luckily I didn't get nauseous - wondering if it has something to do with my gastric bypass -- maybe I don't have that capacity anymore.

I decided to drive to the next town this afternoon and get my hourly iced tea at DD. Well, it was weird. It's about a 7 mile roundtrip drive, but I felt like I had never driven before. So bizarre. Can hardly wait to drive in traffic tomorrow.
