Been using them for years without a problem and now they limit my account and wont let me add funds unless i give them my social security number

They already have enough info, now im thinking of closing the account completely

This is ridiculous and uncalled for.

1|1|What was the reason as to why they wanted it?|Arizona|vbj48@cox.net|18:03:57|07/02/2012|

PayPal is constantly working to ensure security by regularly screening the accounts in our system. We recently reviewed your account, and we need more information to help us provide you with secure service. We would like to return your account to regular standing as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Send it to spoof@paypal.com and see if its legit. They will tell you. I bet it did come from them.

I get them all the time and nothing ever done to my account.

Mary1953 4|1|I think you can access any messages from Paypal in your acct page....so if the message isnt there for you from PP, then the one in your email is probably a spoof/phishing email...|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|19:10:13|07/02/2012|

I was one in the other thread....It will not allow me to add funds from my checking acct, and now draws directly off the credit card that i have linked to the acct-with a fee to me. I spent 25 min on phone with tech support from paypal-Gentleman did not see the screen i was looking at until I typed in the last 4 and 1 other thing. I now need to fax a cpl of things....utility bill and something else. Have not followed up on it as i have been tired, grumpy and generally out of sorts since I talked to him......I believe mine stems from the fact that I have a po box, and do do many small transaction amts...Most I do as personal ef, some i do the other way...It is, unfortunately, legit from them. It was not the whole ss number if i remember correctly.... 14|1|Call them to make sure they are the ones that sent the email|greenthumbs|greenthumbs@charter.net|21:09:04|07/02/2012|

They froze my account till I redid my file.Could not add money. 16|2|Its not spoof, i got it after i logged into my pay pal account|suesdeals|suedo@ptd.net|06:36:29|07/03/2012|

Posted on Jul-03-12 at 06:36 AM (Eastern) by 70.44.3.59

They wont let me add funds, so any transactions are now deducted from my bank account or charged to my credit card

This is very inconvenient

Pay Pal is easier to use if you have some funds in there

They want the whole social security number not just the last four digits

I was wondering if anyone using pay pal has or has not had this happen to them

Then that means they are just targeting certain people for some reason, why me! 17|1|Got that, but only because I was using a PO Box for the bank mailing address, they want a home address for bank statements to go to|padrifter|candles@nb.net|08:17:11|07/03/2012|

after logged into my pay pal account with email adress and password

they put a limit on my account
holding me hostage
wont let me add funds unless i give my social security number
im not doin it!

Pay pal sucks 20|1|there's something wrong with paypal for sure...|noway|mizzbishop@gmail.com|08:03:33|07/04/2012|

Posted on Jul-04-12 at 08:03 AM (Eastern) by 98.219.183.233

Several things have happened over the years to cause me to stop using paypal... for one, they charged my credit card a few times for 10 dollars once and a hundred dollars once, and when I called to ask why they said they'd remove the charges but would not explain what the charges were for. They've asked for my social also. They don't need that. It just seems like something shady is going on there, so you are smart not to give your social out either! 21|2|Many months ago, Paypal claimed it had to report to IRS|Geri|geristiber@gmail.com|10:59:02|07/04/2012|

When you reach 200 transactions a year AND $20,000 in sales. They wouldn't let you use your account until you gave you SSS #

Geri 22|3|Yes, I'm sure that is why they want your social security number.|Arizona|vbj48@cox.net|11:46:06|07/04/2012|

I truly believe it has to do with new regulations set forth by the government.

I know for a fact that when you use money transfer sytems like Western Union that you also have to give your social security number based on the amount sent/received.

It is a fact of life anymore.

23|4|Huh, that's odd because I have like 25 dollars in my pp account, always have,|noway|mizzbishop@gmail.com|14:47:34|07/04/2012|

Posted on Jul-04-12 at 02:47 PM (Eastern) by 98.219.183.233

and when they asked for my ss# they said it was to keep on file in case for id theft protection. Hmmmmph. I just find something odd with that. If I had like 20k in there, sure, I'd be more amenable but I only have change. 25|5|i agree|suesdeals|suedo@ptd.net|15:23:34|07/04/2012|

for banking or financial institutions they are REQUIRED to have this information AND verify your identity, otherwise they have not met the requirements of the Patriot Act. Firms also have to make sure EVERY third party you send money to is not on a list of suspected terrorists or anyone associated with a suspected terrorist. So it only makes sense to me that they would need this information. 29|2|thanks|suesdeals|suedo@ptd.net|06:47:05|07/05/2012|
