I have a 19 yr old cat that likes to spend her summers outside.
We have a small dog house on the porch for her. We have food and
water out there by her house.

Well we have a big, big raccoon that has been coming every night
and eats her food. We thought it was a big male. The cat can be sitting
on the porch and the raccoon just walks by her and eats the food.

It has been coming in and eating food for months. Not scared at all. I can
open the big door and stand inside the screen door and watch it. It comes
right to the door and sniffs around.

Well tonite the kids looked out the door and discoved 4 baby raccoon! Cute,
but going to be trouble. One raccoon was cute to watch. But 4 babies...not
good.

I have a mama skunk and SEVEN babies living in my neighbor's woodpile! lol 2|2|Raccoons will TOTALLY bite. They are a danger to your kids. Ask animal control to find mama and babies a new home. They can capture and relocate.|Barb09|Barb0969@AOL.com|00:46:30|06/28/2012|

...that waddles out of the woods at night, comes to the front porch, and eats what cat food is left in the bowl on the porch. After eating, the opossum will sniff around the front door before waddling off into the dark. LOL One night I had the front door opened a bit and watched the opossum eating out of the bowl. The opossum has bad eyesight, but keen hearing. I quietely opened the door a bit more...and that silly opossum would have waddled right on inside if I had not have made a noise to stop it. I'm not sure I'd know how to get an opossum out of the kitchen if it came inside...LOL. 4|2|not worried about them biting anyone....|shelly0418|michelle0418@centurytel.net|07:34:07|06/28/2012|

they run as soon as they hear someone outside. Mamma has been here a few yrs.
She eats and then goes back into the woods. We enjoy watching her. But babies
are try to get into the trash can.

We love watching the wildlife. We have 10 area in the woods. My son hunts deer
behind our house. My son has has 5 full size raccoon on his tree cam in the passed.
But they never all came into the house area. Just the one did. But all the babies are
cute, but becoming pains in the butt.

I always wanted a skunk as a pet. Well a descented one that is. I know yrs ago
you could find people that raised them as pets.

I had a friend that had 3 raccoons living in the house. He got them as babies.
They ate cat food, just like the cats. He had them several months until they
got to big. He then released them back into the wild. Not sure that was a good idea
after getting them use to humans.

Michelle 8|5|when i was a kid we had pet coons..but its not a good ideal at all...small children can catch|couponsnsamples|cpsnsamples@aol.com|11:46:16|06/28/2012|

several different diseases from them........i saw a show about a small boy around 4 yrs old..who lived in country and coons were coming to their deck

eating catfood..apparently the coon had walked where it used the bathroom and had tracked some type of parasite egg onto the deck and the kid crawled around

playing with cars..and apparently put his hands in his mouth at some point..and got the parasite......caused seizures, blindness(temporary in this child) and he even

had to learn to rewalk again ..which took several months..and he still has visible problems walking..........

these people had no ideal the coons were coming to the deck to eat......until test was done on the child and then they came and check the house,ect..for that parasite

and found it on the porch 9|6|Awww, Shirley, that pic is sooo cute!|Beaglesfly|lmllr77@aol.com|13:24:03|06/28/2012|

When I was a teenager {a long time ago} my friends family found a baby racoon in their attic. They kept him, fed him etc. He was the best pet I ever knew! His name was Switzy and he could be a little destructive-like they had an open stair case and he would always slide down it with his nails digging in for traction. As he grew older and larger you had to be careful because he knew if you liked him and he would jump for your shoulder and again the claws would come out so he could hang on. He always had a bowl of water because he washed all of his food before he would eat it. I have so many memories of the mischief he would get into. One day, mom, had made applesauce and it was in a large bowl cooling on the kitchen counter. Switzy found it and threw it with his paws all over the kitchen. No food was safe left out because he would get into it. Finally he got too large and they had to move him to a caged area in their backyard. They didn't like to see him like this so they sent him to a nearby zoo where others got to enjoy him for the rest of his years. He couldn't be released into the wild because he knew nothing about living as a wild animal. I have great memories of Switzy and they are great pets when young. I wouldn't think they would be good around small children though as those claws are sharp. I always had scratch marks! 11|6|thanks.......i have many ,many more pics of stinky..lol when i was around 5or 6.....we had gotten|couponsnsamples|cpsnsamples@aol.com|16:13:22|06/28/2012|

3 young coons......i think my brother found them in a den when he was hunting......i dont really remember...but he put them in an old car we had that didnt run

until he could fix the cage....the car was a stick on the column....and the old car was parked in the edge of our back field..which was up a hill.......

little while after he put them in the car......they got on the gear shift..was hanging on...pulled it out of gear and the car came flying down

toward our back door......horn blowing and all.....i guess one was on the horn.......lucky there was a row of cedar trees...and the car hit one of the trees!!!!!

Later in yrs..my x brother in law had a full grown coon...he would steal peppermint candy from your pockets......and they packed him around

like a baby on their side......and the silly thing would chew bubble gum and stretch it out like a kid! 12|7|in some states u can buy pet skunks..descented...but in ky..its illegal to own even a pet one that is raised in capitivity......|couponsnsamples|cpsnsamples@aol.com|16:15:59|06/28/2012|

One night, up in Canada, I was walking back from the front office of our friend's resort, carrying my sleeping then three year old son and of course I was barefoot.
I reached the cabin, stepped onto the stairs, hit the first step and then the second step was very furry :)
HUGE Momma raccoon with her babies right behind.
Did a huge jump and run and ran into the cabin and closed the door. Son stayed asleep.

Life is like a cup of tea,
It's all in how you make it.

They came back tonite. Theres five babies.

It is a small porch. I wash it off on a reg basic. And
clean the food dishes daily.

I love watching mom. But having 5 babies around when
they get big might not be a good thing.

Thinking about calling DNR and seeing about relocating them.

Michelle 16|4|wouldnt be a bad ideal......cause u might see them less when they are grown......but they |couponsnsamples|cpsnsamples@aol.com|12:53:55|06/29/2012|
