My daughter just bought a ipad. She would like to use it to get her college books. we have looked at some sights, but she thought it said they would only be there for 14 days. she needs them for the aug-dec semester. Can someone help us with where to get the books and how it works? Do you think this will work or should she get the paper books? Thanks for all your advise and help.

I have 2 in college and never heard of renting texts for an iPad. I highly recommend http://www.chegg.com to rent or buy used texts. Also http://www.bookrenter.com.
