My Mom is coming home today, she is too weak for Rehab so we are bringing her home. I know the outcome will probably not be good but she told me " I want to go home." I am very worried about being physically able to care for her, turning ect but I know God will make it work out for us. I still need to try to work some, havent got it all figured out yet, but I will. I know that I can "love her" more here and there is more peace and quiet for her here as well. She still is not eating much at all, maybe two or three bites per meal. Please continue to pray for us. She had a big smile on her face when ambulance brought her in, first thing she said "I was so happy to leave that place (hospital) I dont think i could have stood it another day." Thanks everyone for suggestions. They did deliver hospital bed, they are to start home health for theraphy. She already has shower chair because that was how I gave her bath before she fell but now she is bedbound, unable to stand even with walker and assistance, even sitting on side of bed is too painful. They sent her home with a catheder. I am a nurse and know what to do , it is just that she is so swollen, hard to turn due to being very "heavy in the middle" besides the fact that it is very painful to turn. Unfortunately she had severe arthritis before this fall and lying in the bed is the worst thing for arthritic patients. I know all will be OK, just have to balance caring for her and being able to work enough to pay the bills. it takes time to heal from surgery and it is great that you are a nurse, she is in good hands. I know what it means to have severe arthritis also. She may need a wheelchair and that isn't so bad as when she gets better she can get around very well in one, I do. I have tongs all over the apartment to pick things up the floor and I can do a lot. Once she gets better, she may be able to stand up for brief periods.
