First I would like to say I pray for several of you on here. I know
group prayers really work. So I try to read the board once a day and
say a special prayer for the ones that need it.

Just don't have time to post that I am thinking about u.

Second I pray for the people that seem to add alot of drama to the board.
Life is to short for that. Treat others like you want to be treated.

Well this coming Monday I am scheduled for gullblader surgery. I know this
is a pretty common surgery. I have mrsa staph infection in my system.
I have been to a dis. control specialist. He put me on 2 pills, meds to put in my
nose, and a body wash to shower with. Have to take it 7 days before surgery
and 7 days after. He feels it is fine to do surgery. That I should not have a
problem with infection after surgery.

This is what scares me. My cousin had back surgery. She got mrsa staph infection
after surgery. Was on an iv at home. Then now is back in the hospital. She is
still sick. Yrs ago her mother went in for heart surgery and died from staph. Not
sure if it was the same type.

So I am worried about surgery. I almost want to keep my bad gullblader. If I am
going to get sick from an infection after the surgery. Because I know people died
everyday from staph infection. And I dont want that to be me at the age of 41.

So please say a prayer for me.

Thanks Michelle

I too was in and out of the hospital with staph infection. I won't scare you, but it wasn't good. Will say prayers for you. 4|1|Sending up some prayers for a successful surgery without complications for you Michelle.....the pre-surgical instructions the surgeon gave you is spot on, and since he is a specialist in Infection control, he will closely monitor your post-surgical infection risks and will probably continue some precautions immediately after with IV meds.....|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|13:35:51|05/16/2012|

I got up at 6am. Left my house at 6:30..my dad drove me to town. The
hospital (clinic side) lab opened at 7am. Had to be back to work by 8am.
Would have 3 parents with their children waiting for me.

Well the first lady called me back to draw blood at 7:20. She tried 2 times
and with no luck, got no blood. She said she could only poke me 2 times. She
then called another lady to draw my blood. After 15 minutes she showed up.
She was about 23..probably have not been drawing blood long. Well she could
not find a vein either. Strike 4! Two ladies..two pokes..and no blood.

So I have to find time to go back this afternoon. Hopefully there is a diff
worker and they can find my vein.

I have this problem everytime. Last time I have hand surgery, it took 3 people
to put the iv in.

I hate it!

Michelle

me. I always joke I will never bleed to death from a accident. I ALWAYS tell them about it first hand..am VERY adamant and aggressive in letting them know they need to send in their BEST person from the get-go. I have had to have it drawn from hands and even feet it is so bad and that hurts like the dickens. When I am THAT aggressive/insistent they know I mean business and very rarely now do I have a problem with them getting it. This last time ..a couple months ago..the person is a ex relative and they kept apologizing during and after..think they were afraid I was going to take it as their punishing me personally ..so to speak..for the divorce from their relative..and they know I will go right to the Dr or whoever I need to etc. They know I mean business. Hey..it's 'my' pain so am not going to let them use me as a pincushion, right? :) Oh..and I did not take it personally. I know she is a professional in her job etc.

Also, have been told that MRSA is almost impossible to get rid of once you have it since it's soo resistant to treatment by Drs, BUT my handicapped daughter had tested MRSA positive some years ago at her trach site. Was treated with antibiotics and routine precautions in place at home as well always to prevent anyone else from getting it. With good care and such it's now testing MRSA free. They have not found it at any other site in her either so it can be treated and eradicated but you have to be aggressive in treating it and preventing it's spread etc. She is very much a 'at risk' person with her health etc and she is fine so think 'positive' and continue to take precautions ..don't want to spread it to others etc as well.

The 'super bugs' that are out there these days are tough little buggers. Can't stress enough to wash hands..alot!..and that is one of the BEST ways to control any germs. We all need some germs to keep our immune system tough and going etc but wash, wash, wash hands to help control them. Daughters and I are rarely sick with flu/cold etc. 13|3|Thanks Skaytes for the posting...I feel better now|shelly0418|michelle0418@centurytel.net|10:56:41|05/19/2012|

I am glad to see your daughter had it, and now is free from it. It
doesn't scare me so much now having surgery. I have been tested a few times.
First pee test showed signs of it. Second pee test there was no sign of it.
Then my surgeon did two diff screenings. It was only found on the left side
of my nose only. Both times.

This is the second time I have been on meds for it. So maybe it is getting out of
my system now. They just did the blood work yesterday.

And if the control infection spec. thinks it is ok, I would think it can't be that
bad in my system. Or he would not put a go ahead on my surgery.

I wash my hands 50 times a day..I really probably do or close to it. I do home daycare.
Wanted to make sure the kids couldn't get it from me. He insured me that I might
have got to from one of them to begin with. With out them knowing they even
had it. He said I might get rid of it now, but working around so many kids and parents
chance are I could get it again.

I have never had the flu. Don't get the common cold. Never had the normal childhood things
like chicken pox. I did get the Fifth disease when I was in my late 30s. It is a childhood
disease that infants and toddlers normal get. They have it a day, most parent don't even
realize they had it. But it hits a adult hard.

Other then that I am normally pretty healthly. Even thou I am around sick kids all the time.

I have found myself to have the same problem since my cancer....my options are limited on locations to take the blood, and the last time around i had an older woman ask me if i had been drinking lots of water-evidently hydration keeps the veins up...I did it this past time (day before, day of) and it seems to have helped...Hope they finally got it right without bruising you too bad... 11|1|Praying that all goes well with your surgery (((HUGS)))~*~|RebekkaVA|queen_vulture@msn.com|18:58:04|05/18/2012|

14|2|michelle, when they take from now on, have them use a "butterfly" needle unit (it's a smaller needle), they should know what you are talking about when you say it. i have tiny veins and when they use the normal needle, they blow right thru my vein and don't get any blood. have had them try on both arms, wrists, top of hands, feet and they can't get blood. since my mom told me to use the butterfly from now on (she learned from her own personal experience with tiny veins) i have a much, much easier time when needing blood work done. sometimes, they won't believe me & they try with their best person, & they can't get my blood, so i tell them again to use the butterfly unit & they get blood on the first try. i tell them when i go into the lab first thing, but they think they know it all & won't listen.....at least at my regular clinic they know me know, & when i remind them i need the butterfly, they listen & use it immediatly instead of poking me 5 -10 times doing it their way! anyway, hope this helps you for future blood work. and good luck with your surgery!!!|turdra|tammyjoblake@hotmail.com|13:57:12|05/19/2012|
