We got a tax refund earlier this year and I spent cash and bought one new at Costco. They work well and I love it.

The rental ones can sometimes not be as good depending on how well they have been serviced, but for the most part when we were renting them I had good experiences. If you have stairs rent the wand piece too (I think it's about $3-5 to rent on top of machine rental cost.) HTH 2|2|I have rented them before many times in the past, they always worked really well at cleaning Rugs & Upholstery|HONEY11|HONEY1@AMERITECH.NET|17:32:16|05/15/2012|

4|4|I use it in my Bissell Steamclean every time :) In fact, it probably keeps the lines cleaner than carpet shampoo....did you want the recipe? :)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|19:15:21|05/15/2012|

In a gallon bucket or large pitcher:

Mix 1 heaping scoop of Oxyclean or other oxygen cleaning powder (I use Sun brand, I found it at Dollar General) and 2 qts HOT tap water. Mix until powder is dissolved. Add 2 Tablespoons of liquid fabric softener. (This acts as a defoamer, plus will soften the carpet fibers and add a nice scent) Then add 1 cup white vinegar, stir til mixed (Be aware the oxyclean and vinegar may react and fizz alot, which is why you need a container larger than 2 qts to mix it in).

Fill the cleaning solution reservoir on the carpet cleaner, then use as usual. I always make sure to do a rinse of the area just cleaned with plain warm water, making sure to get as much water sucked up out of the carpet as possible.

Joy :)
