I know God does not put more on you than you can handle but I think he is giving me more credit for strength than I deserve. Between the tornado in Jan my brother dying a month ago , my uncle dying 3 weeks ago, my sweet kitty I had for 15 years dying two weeks ago and the vet now wanting me to put my 15 year old chow down, I think I sm about to crack. My Mom is on blood thinner and can't have surgery until Thursday. With her dementia I have to stay night and day because she is not capable of calling for pain meds when she needs them. Plus being a nurse myself I know if you are not already sick a hospital will make you sick. I believe I am up to date on all trades. Amy , I mailed the auction you won out today luckily I had it ready to go but I did not have tine to check it again so let me know if there is a problem. A few years ago, my aunt broke her hip, then fell (bone crumbled) and laid on floor for 3 days before anyone found her.. You are so wonderful to care for her. My Mom had surgery on Thurs, she had to get 2 units of blood before surgery because she was bleeding into hip. They have given her 2 more after surgery. She has dementia but it is not severe but since she has been in hospital she has not been oriented. They expect her to be up in chair today, one day past surgery and standing with walker by tomorrow. She is so out of it that is not going to happen and I am afraid they are going to give up on her. They want her out of hospital by Monday and off to rehab or a skilled nursing facility. As far as my dog "Vinnie" is concerned I have decided that when my Husband, who is in Army and lives about 500 miles away, comes home in about a week that i am going to have her put to sleep, she is uncomfortable and it is unfair of me to hold on to her because i do not want to lose someone else that I love. Thanks again for your prayers, i am positive it is all the prayers from family and friends that is holding me up.
11|2|It's not uncommon for the elderly to be a bit 'off' cognitively after a surgery...it's the residual effects of the anesthesia most of the time...give her a few more days and she should be back to her regular mental status. It is also customary for 2-3 days post-op monitoring at the hospital then to be transferred to a rehab/nursing facility....her Medicare A will pay for the entire rehab stay for up to 20 days, then 80% after that (hopefully she has supplemental insurance, as that will pay the other 20%)....prayers for her recovery. |saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|12:57:09|05/18/2012|

ETA: Med A will pay for an additional 80 days at 80%, so a total of up to 100 days may be used for her recovery.....it does not guarantee 100 days, that will depend on her progress with therapies and her medical stability.

It is hard to write this but theraputic at the same time, my Mom is not doing well since hip surgery. She has had to receive 5 units of blood, she is disoriented most of the time. She has become incontient. They had to put Nasogastric tube in because her stomach was distended and she was nauseated and vommitting. Thank goodness they took that out today, hopefully she will be able to keep it out. Her albumin level is low due to not eating. Her hip incision is draining massive amount so it is not healing properly,it hurts to do any type of theraphy. They want to send her to skilled nursing center for some rehab, i just want to take her home but I am afraid that I will not be able to take care of her properly and keep her out of pain.
