My dog woke me up before 4 this morning madder than all get out, so I get up to find a couple lights on & someone w/wild hair scurrying out of my house!
Vehicle sitting in the driveway running so after I grab my weapon & check the place over, I go outside to find out wth is going on. Here, it's a female friend of my son's (not gf; just friend) who said he'd called/texted her asking her to pick him up. I said, "He's not here, but don't EVER walk in my house again" as I hold up my weapon for her to see. She's scared out of her wits & says she's sorry & that she was just in the garage. I kind of know who she is but I know she's lying cuz I caught her IN my house, all the way to my son's bedroom & then hurrying back out thru the kitchen & garage door when I got up, she having opened the basement door & turned on that light along the way somewhere. Basement door opened & light on by mistake? I tell her again, my son is NOT home, I don't know where he is, but that I sleep w/my gun ready to go, & so do alot of other people, so for her own safety, don't EVER, EVER walk into my house. And especially at 4 o'clock in the dam* morning!
Didn't think she'd ever been inside here before but she seemed to know her way to my son's bedroom all right......
But I bet she won't walk in this house again! ROFL!!
Needless to say, I'm wide awake now & it's TOO dang early to be up & about on a Sunday morning. Grrrr!

And when I get rudely woke up like that, I'm ornery as a bull. :-O Between the dog & me & Mr. Browning, I was more he((-bent on finding out who was stupid enough to dare invade the sanctity of my home. LOL
I don't always lock doors, don't usually have to, & last night was one of those times. But she couldn't have had time to grab up anything. Didn't even have time to shut the stupid lights back off in her hurry to get back out & away from my dog. LOL Then sat out in the driveway, which gave me time to put on my coat & shoes before I went out there to reem whoever it was. She kept saying she was sorry, & I kept huggging Mr. Browning on front of her. LOL Locked the doors when I came back in tho. LOL
Sat out here in the dark for 45 min. before deciding to try going back to sleep.
Then I got to realizing how dumb these kids are cuz my son obviously didn't tell her where to come & pick him up & she obviously didn't ask & assumed he was home. Duh! Guess they don't communicate w/each other too well. LOL And I get the last laugh on that cuz my son's in the big city at another friend's apt. & that's also where this girl lives so if he called/texted her to pick him up, she came all the way from the big city, not realizing my son wasn't here & was likely just a few blocks from her. LOLOLOL

I need to stick the clip in my 380 semi auto. I have two clips and ready to go. They just changed the law here for anyone who has
a concealed weapons permit can have & carry a stun gun. That just may be the next item I will purchase to be safer at home. I really
don`t plan on carrying outside the home, but with all the crime lately , it just may be a good idea.
I have already been robbed of a 6 hp compressor by druggys, and it was in the middle of the day. Just lucky for me , I did not go
outside when they knocked on the door, like I would normally do. :( Needless to say, they did catch them only because the neighbors
son was up town and saw my compressor in the back of their truck. It was freezing rain and they did a high speed chase of over 100 mph
on the freeway. So, they did recover it, after the cops found it in the ditch. They had tried to pawn it, but I have a safety switch on
it, so not even the pawn shop could get it to run. So they were totally screwed at trying to sell. Needless to say, I was very violated
and did not get the compressor back for over a yr and the cops would not tell me whether or not it would even run. Sigh.
Anyways, just glad you did not shoot..... She (your sons friend) is very lucky and I hope it is a REAL wake up to not enter any home w/o
someone answering the door. Here they knock and if you don`t answer, they figure no one is at home and break in. I am waiting for that
day to happen, if I am here, they are going to be in for a BIG surprise.....

Had my son also double check in his room when he came home last night but he thought I was crazy for it. LOL
As I thought, it was a case of mis-communication between my son & that girl, on where she was supposed to pick him up.
But I had a stern talk w/my son about not only what could happen when "strangers" (I had NO idea who it was til I went outside to the vehicle) unexpectedly & foolishly walk into someone else's house uninvited, but also about the lack of manners & respect, & brain cells (LOL), some of his friends have. Granted, my son isn't perfect but he won't just walk into someone else's house like that, unless it's specifically a friend's apt. AND they TOLD him ahead of time to walk in. He'd NEVER walk into a friend's parent's house or anyone else's house w/out knocking & being called in.
He got a little snarky & said he'd be sure to tell ALL his friends never to walk in my house. LOL I said I can still file a police report, & that yes, it might be a very wise idea for him to inform his friends NOT to walk in, for their own safety, but the doors will be locked ALL the time now so it'll definitely be breaking & entering & burglary if someone were to get any other ideas. And then the bullets will fly. ;-P
And my dog got a special treat yesterday for being such a good girl. :)

Doesn't matter if doors were unlocked. She was NOT invited inside & you cannot legally enter someone's home uninvited. It constitutes home invasion & trespassing even if the doors weren't locked. When it gets down to brass tacks, I have a legal right not to allow anyone anywhere on my property, unless they have a court order/search warrant. That applies to law enforcement officials as well.
I have a couple friends in law enforcement & a niece w/a degree in Criminal Justice who will hopefully also be working in law enforcement soon, so I ask one of them when I have these types of questions or concerns.
Also here, we have a legal right to protect ourselves & our property, inside & out. Can a home/land owner go walking around outside on their property & just shoot anyone who crosses over onto their property line? No. But as a licensed firearms owner, I am legally able to shoot anyone/anything that I feel is a threat to myself or anyone else inside my home or outside on my property. My "property" includes my dog, my vehicle, my garage, my yard & even my son's vehicle if it's parked on my property.
If my mom & I are walking down the street, & I'm carrying my weapon (concealed carry law/license applies here), & someone were to attack one of us, I have a legal right to shoot them in order to defend/protect us both, her being in my proximity & believing we're in immediate danger.
Rest assured, I would NEVER want to put anyone out of commission permanently. But I WILL defend & protect myself, my loved ones & my property, so if a perp ends up hobbling around for awhile, so be it.

Tresspassing laws are stringent. There have been many court cases.
First, just because someone is on your property, d0es not mean you can legally harm them, especially if they are unarmed. Now in your house, I don't know. I do know that you cannot even prosercute them unless you warn them first. The warning need not be verbal, A no tresspassing, will be prosecuted sign will do. Signs will have to be very visible from all angels of entry.
The nerve of some people. WE once caught 2 peple hunting on our country property. WE asked what was he doing there as the property was posted every 15 ft as required. He had the nerve to ask us what we were doing there. They left when we told them we only own the place and it was posted and would he like the sheriff to settle the problem.
This case should be reported to the police. You will at least have a legal record in case anything else happens not only to you but also anyone else this nut encounters. She might just get shot next time. You do not have to legally do anything, but perhaps a visit by the police may scare some sense into her.

It is a scary world especially with so much drug use going on. Alot of the drug users are out of their minds and don't know what they are doing. Their brain cells are dead.
We see alot of that in Phoenix. Many people here even have alarms on their houses and it still doesn't deter these criminals.
