I have a wall AC unit & I have a presistant pesky robin that keeps building a nest on it, other than keep knocking down the nest anyone know of a sure way to get it to stop?

I read somewhere that they don't like mothballs -- but you have to because that's a strong odor! 3|2|LOL! :)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|10:07:37|04/22/2012|

2|1|Try putting a rubber/plastic snake up there.....get a fairly decent sized one that looks realistic.....you can find them at dollar stores most of the time.|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|10:07:19|04/22/2012|

a large dark lawn and leave bag across the top
of the ac loosely and taping it. It will make noise
if the wind blows a little and keep it away. Can also
tape a few of the plastic grocery bags. (just across
the top) for a month or so until the birds are done
laying eggs. Don't block anything on the ac. 5|1|LOL Robin, TY all, here's the low down|pumamomma|pumamomma@yahoo.com|14:32:03|04/22/2012|

Ok so this robin has been trying to build a nest on top my wall air conditioner suppose cuz of the major winds we've been having this was to be the safest spot so twice a day i knock off a few weeds/twigs thinking it would get tired of me knocking down & go somewhere else. Well the other day much to my surprise was this HUGE mud/grassy nest.! I can't reach so always use a broom to knock off so yes i got a huge surprise. So then I found a box that with the flaps down it would fill out the space, well that didn't work so today I found a larger box where the flaps extend off over the edge of AC unit & stapled tinfoil to all of the flaps, let's hope this works. My deck is a huge mess of mud, grass & bird poo. YUCK

not when mud is involved because the top of the AC unit has vent in it & before I caught on to what was going on NOW there is grass & "stuff" down in the unit & from what I can see is that there is no way to get the outside off to clean it so will have to try a hose and a leaf blower :o(

8|3|A few years ago, I had a persistant momma robin trying to build a nest in the nook of my porch light where the bracket sticks out from the side of the house.....the light was 6 inches from my front door, and all I could picture was being dive-bombed every time we came and went....so, I took down the beginnings of a nest twice, then had to hang the rubber snake across the light bracket.....never had one try that again.|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|16:38:56|04/22/2012|

Then one day I came home, and I looked up and freaked out big time. My husband had duck taped a big plastic owl from the garden over the light. So far this year the Robin has not been back.

Except the mama robin had already built the nest on my back light by the time I got here. She was here 1st that year so I left the nest be, but got dive bombed & squawked at everytime I went in/out my back garage door, & the babies left a horrid, poopy mess after the eggs hatched. I tore the nest down that fall & washed that whole area. Come spring, I believe it was probably the same mama robin, thought she was going to build a nest on that light again. I kept brushing off the twigs, mud, etc. & she kept bringing more back. I finally took a piece of left-over rain gutter, folded it over to fill in that space, & have left it there. No more nests.
As much as I like feeding & watching the birds a good, safe distance across the yard, I do NOT want their mess & the lice crawling all over MY house. Ick!

My mom & dad had a persistent cardinal banging on their kitchen window for awhile in their old house. We figured it was attracted to the cardinal figurine my mom had sitting in the window. LOL

I get the goofy birds that occasionally fly into my picture window. Scares the beejeebies out of me everytime they thump into it. Especially the doves as they're bigger so a louder thump. Then they sit on the ground for a few minutes, no doubt stunned & having to re-gather their faculties. LOL

rolls and cut it down to size to fit in between the eveas and the light and secure them so the wind etc won't have them come down. First I noticed the robin was I looked out the side door and saw all the things she gathered up and there was a pile, she must have gathered them up for a couple of days. The tubes are strong and they stay secured. And the robin is gone.

Does it before dawn and goes around to all the houses in the neighborhood banging on the brown ones, white one don't have to put up with it. Neighbor one year went and killed it, but then in another year or two we get another one. One the side where we got the robin, we plan on screening it all in, then no more robin and then we will also get white gutters and then no more woodpecker. The first time I heard was right out the bedroom window early am, it woke me up as I thought someone was jackhammering their way into my house via the back of the house. funny, but that's what it sounded like.
