My mom has probably 1000 or so paperback novels that she's read, and my dad is looking to get rid of them
..... where is the best place to take them for cash or store credit ???

They'll buy her books. Keeping in mind they don't really have a specific rate that they pay, because it is based on the book's uniqueness, condition, demand, and the store's inventory at the time.
