$12 to $15 hourly
Job Description

SpeakWrite is now actively hiring typists throughout the United States and Canada to work as independent contractors from their homes. We are currently hiring ‘Legal’ typists with law office skills and experience. We also contract with ‘General’ typists with more general, non legal-specific skills, although hiring for that group is not currently open.

SpeakWrite is the largest provider of non-medical transcription in the United States. Attorneys and other users dictate over our toll-free dictation line or upload their recorded dictation files via the internet, and our U.S. and Canada based typists transcribe their dictation and deliver their completed documents to them by email in about 3 hours, 24/7 year-round. We have been providing these services for almost thirteen years now, with over 35,000 clients nationwide. And we are rapidly growing, and looking for typist staff to grow with us.

SpeakWrite typists are qualified, experienced transcriptionists who contract with us to receive transcription work to complete from their own home, on their own schedule. You can apply from this site and upon approval of your application and the completion of the required testing, software will be provided to you which acts as a “key” allowing you to access the work. You may then schedule hours you want to work, sign into our system and pick up work from our clients, then upload your finished transcriptions to our system via the Internet.

Please review all of the information in the links on this page, including our computer requirements, qualifications, compensation and FAQ pages if you would like more information regarding our independent contractor positions.

I truly didn't earn that much money per hour. There's a screening process and if you pass their tests, you can schedule hours, but hours (at least at that time) were given in a preferential order based on how many hours you worked the previous schedule. So, newbies like me got less desirable shift slots. If no work comes through on those slots or very little work, that affects earnings. If you do pass, you could grab the graveyard shift hours to boost your hours in hopes to be able to schedule for better hours when you can. They also do a background check in some instances.

It wasn't a bad job per se, it just didn't fit with my needs. If anyone wants to ask more questions, shoot me an email.
