o I just found out last week I have cateracts in both my eyes and need surgery(I had perfect vision before this and never wore glasses), and they said glasses will not help and my left eye is totally blurry and am blind in that eye. I am stressed out and worried about surgery and just want to know if anyone has gone through this to help ease my mind.

3|1|Hey Linda!! My Mom had this last year, she is as good as new, still drives too fast and drives from Ohio where|Mackiesmudder|Mackiesmudder@aol.com|16:32:37|03/23/2012|

she lives to here in NJ and also from Ohio to the Florida Keys where my brother is. No pain and she is happy. You just can't seem to catch a break and I am sorry for that. You are one of the gentlest, kindest and most generous people i know. Keep the faith girl, you have lots of "peeps" here!
Love,

5|1|Oh, Linda, you are so young to go though this. I have cataracts starting, have to have the eyes checked again, but|lv2qpon|jcummins1@rochester.rr.com|15:45:27|03/29/2012|

I am older than you. I do hope all goes well. I know a man who had it done and he said it was very easy to go through. Men are usually more sensitive than women when it comes to these things. 6|1|My 85 yr old mother had her eyes done about 3 yrs ago...she had no problems at all, and now has better vision than I do! |saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|16:41:55|03/29/2012|

Very simple operation. Be aware that after the operation you will need reading glasses. That is because your plastic iris can no longer expans and contract as before. I prefer magnifying glasses.
You should also need to wear sunglasses most of the time. The UV rays are not good for you. For night time driving get some "night driving glasses, they cut down the glare from oncoming tarffic.

good luck

procedure takes about 15 minutes but you are there for3-4 hours. They don't knock you completely out but you will be very comfortable.

Edited this to add your personal knowledge in going through this or knowing someone who went through this, posting about it is vey encouraging to me, and helps settle my mind.

o I'm going this coming Tuesday for a 2nd opinion on my eyes and will schedule surgery if need be. The eye doctor told me he doesn't know how I got it, but he said it is hereditary, and even though I am 46 he said cataracts do not have age limit as newborn babies can be born with them, and some people in there early 20's get them.I am looking forward to being able to see again well, and will keep you all posted what the 2nd eye doctor says..

**I guess whatever life throws at you "humor" about it does help, lol...I saw a friend last night and she was at the back of a room waving to me(I did not see her) she then approached me later and said what are you, blind? I was waving to you! I replied yes, I am blind, I did not see you.. with a smile and a laugh...It helps me deal with it.
